Background

Xia Yi is the captain of Yan Kingdom’s secretive Black Rose Special Forces Squad, a unit entrusted with dangerous missions including decapitation operations. The squad’s classified status is such that even Xia Yi’s public name is an alias. Before entering the Forbidden Land, she had received extensive tactical, survival, firearms, close-combat, ancient martial-arts, and hypnosis training. She had also defeated Chen Warrior King in a confidential live-combat exercise where both sides used advanced tactics and equipment 202 209 240 241.

When she was selected as Yan Kingdom’s second Forbidden Land contestant, Black Rose equipped her within twenty minutes with firearms, ammunition, rations, water, drones, explosives, tools, and other field supplies. Entry into the Forbidden Land

Xia Yi entered as Yan Kingdom’s second contestant, immediately encountered an Armored Lizard, and chose to kill it rather than retreat. Her one-shot kill established her as an elite combatant, but the gunshot drew the Holy Light Knights toward her position 202 204.

She used remote bombs to ambush the knights, but necromancy and revived enemies eventually overwhelmed her. Xu Fan arrived in time to save her with Sword Qi, after which the two formally met and began operating as allies 206 210.

Cthulhu Hostage Gamble

Cthulhu captured Xia Yi, Carlotta, Holo, and the Two-Legged Sheep girls to stop Xu Fan’s assault. Xia Yi had anticipated that Cthulhu would keep her alive as leverage, so she placed herself under deep hypnosis and covertly positioned herself to act when brought before Xu Fan 236 240.

Her gamble succeeded: she woke at the intended moment, helped create the opening for Cthulhu’s defeat, and earned Xu Fan’s respect for her analysis and planning 240 241.

After the Forbidden Land’s descent into Osaka, Xia Yi searched the city for Yan Kingdom survivors and cleared monster groups with symbiote-enhanced firearms. She refused to abandon six injured survivors when Kurama Masabō, an SS-Rank yokai, blocked her escape 521 524.

While delaying Kurama Masabō, Xia Yi pushed Thunderclap Hand to nine resonances and awakened the Thunderclap Body. She endured severe injuries while protecting the survivors until Xu Fan’s intervention changed the battle 526 531.

Return to Blue Star

During the battle with Nurarihyon, Xia Yi and Ren Jiutian’s combined assault failed against the enemy’s fourth form. Nurarihyon’s lethal attack activated Xia Yi’s Totem of Undying, returning her safely to Yan Kingdom, where the Special Action Group recovered her 604 605.
