Background / History
The Qin Family was once one of Flying Bird City's Five Great Families. Its older generation of experts gradually died off, while the younger generation failed to produce new prodigies; the Xu Family eventually replaced it among the Five Great Families. By the time of the sword-pulling tournament, the Qins were a second-rate clan held together by an elderly Celestial Firmament Realm aunt. 9
The family preserved the Taixuan Sword, believed to have belonged to its founding ancestor, the White-robed Divine King Qin Taixuan, a thousand years earlier. It placed the blade in a public sword-drawing contest, promising the successful participant Qin Mingyue's hand and the family's full support. 9 10
After Shen Zhou drew the sword, the Qin elders brought him to their estate but judged him harshly for his impoverished background. Several disciples attacked him, followed by the elders' attempt to seize the Taixuan Sword; Shen Zhou defeated them and severed relations with the family. 12 13 14
Ancestor Qin Fenglan later disclosed the family's concealed version of the Taixuan Sword prophecy: the sword's re-emergence would mean the rebirth of the White-robed Divine King. On that basis, she identified Shen Zhou as Qin Taixuan's reincarnation and offered him the position of family head. 17
The clan publicly recognized Shen Zhou as its patriarch after he killed Wu Hualong and demonstrated Celestial Firmament Realm power through the Taixuan Sword. This restored the Qin Family's standing and forced the Xu Family to abandon its planned suppression over the Fire Crystal mine. 31 32 33
Legacy
“When the Taixuan Sword emerges, the Qin Family shall rise again.” 10 12
According to Qin Fenglan, this was an altered public version of the original prophecy:
“When the Taixuan Sword emerges, the White-robed One will be reborn!” 17
- The unaltered prophecy was reportedly restricted to successive Qin family heads and clan guardians. 17
- The Taixuan Sword is regarded as the clan's ancestral divine weapon and the central hope behind its revival. 10 11
- Before Shen Zhou's emergence, Qin Mingyue was the family's strongest young disciple, at the Transformation Yuan Second Realm; the generational gap between the Qins and first-rate families remained a major weakness. 11 33
