History

Former Glory and Decline

The Sea Heaven Sect was once a gigantic East Sea power, described as an overlord whose influence exceeded that of many later sects. Its decline began after it helped turn back a previous Netherworld invasion; the resulting loss of strength left it vulnerable to other powers that deliberately took advantage of its weakened state. 1216 1419

Even in its reduced state, the sect retained substantial inheritances, cultivation arts, formations, and institutional prestige. Other sects such as the Cloud Soaring Sect and Mysterious Yin Valley treated it with deference, while its disciples were regarded as superior to those of smaller local sects. 74 93 309

Ten Thousand Bone Cave and the Evil Ghost Tide

The sect maintained a presence at the Ten Thousand Bone Cave, ostensibly monitoring the Mysterious Yin Valley. To preserve fairness, it allowed its members to assist disciples from both the Cloud Soaring Sect and the Mysterious Yin Valley. 81

During the Evil Ghost Tide, the Sea Heaven Sect dispatched four hundred reinforcements to the Cloud Soaring Sect. Their force entered through four coordinated battle formations—manifesting as a giant, a landscape painting, a giant sword, and a flying ship—with each hundred-person formation led by a Qi Gathering cultivator. 93

The sect’s disciples protected Yan Chihuo and Jin Shanmin while breaking through the ghost army with the Great Five Elements Universe Array. Elder Chi Songzi later arrived and overwhelmed two Dao Foundation Stage ghosts with the Water Cloud Fan and Turbid Waves Raging to the Sky. 96 102

After Chi Songzi used the Cloud Heaven Eighteen Formations to rout the ghost army, the Sea Heaven Sect moved against the Mysterious Yin Sect and annihilated it after Chi Songzi broke the Mysterious Yin Great Array. 121 125

Recruitment of Yan Chihuo and Recovery

Chi Songzi recruited Yan Chihuo after recognizing his potential during the Evil Ghost Tide. Yan initially declined the sect’s offer out of loyalty to the Cloud Soaring Sect, but later accepted Chi Songzi as his master on Sea Heaven Island and became a Sea Heaven Sect disciple. 125 226

Yan’s participation in the Leaping Heavenly Gate became a turning point for the sect. The Sea Heaven Sect suffered no casualties, took first place in the decisive battle, and received a major increase in East Sea resources and prestige. 519

The sect was later offered a political marriage alliance with the Water Cloud Sect, requiring Mo Han to marry Lin Fei. Mo Han refused and left the sect rather than accept the arrangement, prompting the Sect Leader to reject the proposal personally. 525

Demon Race Assault on Sea Heaven Island

When the Mystic Tortoise, Silver Shark, and Diamond Crab clans prepared a surprise attack, Yan Chihuo returned ahead of the others to warn Sea Heaven Island. Sect Master Daoist Yuanyuan activated the Golden Light Immortal-Extinguishing Formation and prepared the sect for a siege. 927 928

Believing that Sea Heaven Island might fall within two months, Yuanyuan entrusted Cold Fragrance Pavilion’s inheritances and treasures to Yan Chihuo and Mo Han so that they could preserve the sect’s future if necessary. 929

The sect successfully used the island formation, coordinated ambushes, Blood-Devouring Arrows, and Soul-Extinguishing Crossbows to inflict heavy losses on the Demon Race and force its retreat. 934 940

Return to Major-Sect Status

Yan Chihuo’s first-place finish in the East Sea Sect Advancement Ranking Tournament helped secure the Sea Heaven Sect’s eighth-place position among participating sects. Although Yan won the individual competition, seven established sects retained higher placement because they had maintained Spirit Cultivation Stage experts across three consecutive tournaments. 1255

The sect’s growing resources and status attracted hostility. Wondrous Unity Island, Flame Dragon Sect, Snow Rainbow Sect, and Yang Pole Mountain formed an alliance to plunder Sea Heaven Sect resources, but the sect retaliated against their attacks. 1274 1276

By the later period, the Sea Heaven Sect had gained extensive resources, techniques, and inheritances through Yan Chihuo’s achievements. Mo Han reached the Spirit Cultivation Stage, Kong Yi reached the peak Dao Integration Stage, and numerous members of their generation advanced to Dao Integration. 1348 1415

Organization

Seven Sons of Sea Heaven

Every three hundred years, the sect produces seven elite successors known as the Seven Sons of Sea Heaven. Their status is central to the sect’s leadership and cultivation structure. 75

Originally, the title could be awarded relatively early in a disciple’s growth. As the sect became stronger, it considered postponing selection until candidates reached the middle Origin Core Stage—or even the Dao Integration Stage—to ensure the title reflected genuine long-term potential. 1415
