Water Stain

Hope discovered he was being held captive.

It is true imprisonment, completely different from the previous situation where Hope could escape at any time using Uncertainty.

Now, the term "Uncertainty" is no longer applicable.

The constant gaze fixed on Hope rendered Hope unable to use this magic.

It's that transparent Monster.

It didn't actually leave Hope's original room; rather, a part of it remained in a corner of the room, resembling a water stain that hadn't been wiped clean.

Hope was completely unaware of anything as soon as she settled into the room.

Once he discovered what was in the corner, he immediately found a way to call Wilbur into his room and protest to Wilbur.

"What is this?" Hope asked Wilbur.

"Part of that thing." Wilbur frowned at Hope, clearly annoyed by the commotion Hope had caused.

But why is it here?

Who knows?

"It has to get out," Hope said. "Nobody wants to be in the same room as this thing."

But Wilbur dismissed this reason and rejected it on the spot.

"You'll get used to it," Wilbur said. "If you're afraid of it, that's okay. You won't be afraid anymore once you get used to it."

"Did you make it do that?" Hope suddenly realized.

Hope bit her nails, and roughly understood what was going on.

Wilbur wanted to go to Bay State University —perhaps it was too far away, and Wilbur was worried about Hope, which is why he sent the Transparent Monster to monitor him.

Wilbur did not deny it, and he showed no concern about Hope's speculation.

He then became angry because Hope had suddenly summoned him. "I hope that unless it's urgent, you'd better be considerate of other people's feelings. I have a lot of things to do."

Hope ignored him. "You can't do this, at least you should get it out of my room." But Wilbur chose to leave directly.

He concluded by saying, "You'll get used to it."

The Transparent Monster made no response to Wilbur's departure.

But Hope knew Wilbur's orders were being carried out, and that water stain in the corner wouldn't go away.

You'll get used to it.

Hope stared with a headache at the part of the Transparent Monster's body that was as clear as water.

After Wilbur left, Hope waited a few minutes and began trying to issue new commands to the Transparent Monster in his capacity as a "member of the the Whateley family".

Hope placed a glass on the ground.

"Pick up the glass," Hope said, pointing to something on the ground.

The water stains began to spread, first growing from the size of a palm to the size of a human head, then thickening, forming a steady column of water rising from the ground.

This steady column of water is as supple and boneless as an octopus's tentacles, bending at will.

Unlike the enormous body of the Transparent Monster, this creature was agile, and picking up the cup was not difficult for it.

Its tentacles circled the glass, lifting it into the air.

"Now, put it on the table," Hope continued, gesturing towards the table.

As the Transparent Monster moved, the glass was steadily placed on the wooden table—though the Monster seemed unable to distinguish the front from the back of the glass.

It placed the cup upside down and then adjusted it several times to prevent it from rolling.

Hope held up a finger. "Come closer, wrap your fingers around mine."

Just like when Hope last encountered it, the Transparent Monster's body was transparent and smooth, as if covered with a layer of slime.

But unlike that time, the Transparent Monster could understand and execute more commands.

Perhaps Wilbur did something to enable him to order the Transparent Monster to monitor Hope.

"Leave my room," Hope said.

The Transparent Monster did not move.

"Go back," Hope continued.

The Transparent Monster turned into a puddle of water once again.

Hope tried closing his eyes, and as expected, the Uncertainty be activated; the Transparent Monster still maintained its vision.

After that, no matter what methods or words Hope used, the Transparent Monster refused to leave the room.

Clearly, in the perspective of the Transparent Monster, Wilbur's orders took precedence over Hope's.

Hope let out a long sigh and lay down on the bed to rest with her eyes closed.

A few minutes later, he suddenly stood up on the bed and placed his hand on the window that had been blocked.

He tried to push the wooden board blocking the window, but his mind wasn't focused on the board; instead, he was looking behind him as much as possible.

Hope didn't know what kind of wood it was, but he knew that with his strength, it would be difficult to break the window by brute force. He did this only to test the reaction of the Transparent Monster behind him.

When he first pushed open the window, Hope couldn't see the Transparent Monster's movements behind it because of the distance.

But as Hope began trying to pry open the nails in the plank, the Transparent Monster was already behind Hope.

"Back off!" Hope said to the Transparent Monster.

The liquid suspended in mid-air hesitated for a moment, then actually retreated a distance.

But it didn't really fade away completely; it just stopped halfway through.

As Hope continued trying to pry open the window, it slowly extended over, with a part of its body gently resting on Hope's arm.

The limbs were not exerting force, as if the person was still hesitating.

Hope made the Transparent Monster retreat again, this time only a short distance, and when Hope exerted force again, it wrapped itself around her once more.

Seeing its dilemma, Hope suddenly found it somewhat amusing.

It's like a eunuch who's ordered by a prince to imprison another prince.

The Transparent Monster's power over Hope was increasing. Every time Hope said "back off," the Transparent Monster would relax a little, but overall it was still stopping Hope.

Hope knew that if she continued, she would likely be forcibly dragged away by this thing, so she stopped.

Seconds later, without Hope giving any orders, the Transparent Monster retreated to a corner of the room on its own.

Hope lay back down on the bed. It was already night, and with nothing to do, she waited to fall asleep.

He then issued one last order.

"Go open the door and let me out," Hope said to the Transparent Monster.

The Monster writhed in the corner a few times before finally retreating.

When Hope woke up again on June 16, she saw that the puddle of water in the corner had grown larger.

Just as Hope thought the Transparent Monster had infiltrated more of its body...

He noticed that the color of the water stains was a bit off.

Hope moved a little closer.

The water stain in the corner had a slightly reddish tinge.

It was as red as blood.

Hope remembered. The Whateley House fed this guy raw beef.
