Background / History

King Faust created Noah through an artificial womb using his own genes, those of his late wife, and precious pure magic. Noah was initially intended to be a loyal agent who could enter Earth-land and steal Fairy Tail’s supposed source of endless magic, Lumen Histoire. Faust’s calculated paternal affection became genuine over the years, however, and Noah grew up as his beloved younger son rather than merely a tool. 1

Unlike ordinary Edolasians, Noah was born with magic in his body. This made the world’s declining magic supply a direct threat to his life: if Edolas lost its magic entirely, he risked contracting Magic Deficiency Syndrome and rapidly dying. To save him, Faust forcibly sent Noah to Earth-land through reverse-activated Anima, entrusted him with Dragoon, and asked him to find his elder son, Jellal. 1

After arriving in Earth-land, Noah saved Lisanna and Elfman from the Beast King incident, awakened Prayer magic, and concealed his origin while accepting Mirajane’s invitation to Fairy Tail. He joined with a white guild mark on his right forearm, publicly claiming that he was searching for a dark-blue-haired elder brother named Jellal. 3 5 6

Noah gradually settled into Fairy Tail life. His superior combat technique led Erza to seek his instruction, and Makarov formally approved him as the guild’s Physical Technique Coach. He trained members in hand-to-hand combat, sword fundamentals, and later Armament Haki. 22 44

Appearance

Noah is a clean-cut, white-haired young man. His white hair comes from Faust rather than his late mother’s dark-blue hair, and he bears a noticeable resemblance to his elder brother Mystogan. 1

Personality

Noah is notably laid-back, lazy, and difficult to motivate. Before leaving Edolas, he spent much of his free time sleeping, reading beauty magazines, and avoiding effort outside his fixed training schedule. Even after joining Fairy Tail, he prefers relaxing over taking jobs and openly complains when new powers require prolonged training. 1 23 31

Despite this, Noah is observant, pragmatic, and highly knowledgeable about magic. He hides crucial information when necessary, studies unfamiliar magic to avoid exposing his origins, and can identify weaknesses in rare spells such as Arc of Time. 5 9 65

He is also provocative and mischievous, often teasing Erza, Mira, Carla, Laxus, and other guildmates. His casual attitude can turn cold when friends are endangered; he is willing to use overwhelming force against enemies such as Erigor, Ajeel, and the God Lord. 23 99 227 318
