Background / History

Makarov is the son of Yuri Dreyar, one of Fairy Tail's four founders. After Yuri died from grief, he entrusted the four-year-old Makarov to Precht Gaebolg, Fairy Tail's Second Master, who raised and taught him. When Precht stepped down after forty years as master, Makarov succeeded him and guarded the guild for more than four decades. 31

He later became a Ten Wizard Saint and Fairy Tail's Third Master. Despite his prestige, he considers the guild's members his family and keeps close watch over their safety, even scolding Mira, Elfman, and Lisanna for accepting the Beast King Subjugation request without sufficient strength. 6

Makarov's son, Ivan Dreyar, was expelled from Fairy Tail after attempting to exploit the guild's forbidden secret, Lumen Histoire. Ivan's ambition and exile left Makarov estranged from both his son and grandson, Laxus. 21 81
