"But... don't you think there's something wrong with my status panel?" In a cramped, dilapidated room, a thin, black-haired boy with slightly sunken cheeks from hunger and an unremarkable face—but bright, alert eyes—stared at the status panel in front of him and scratched his head in frustration.

At his words, another line appeared on the status panel.

"System, why don't we talk about how to use you instead?"
The system clearly didn't mind Wei Yi's awkward change of subject. If anything, it seemed more interested in answering his question.
"This system can strengthen the host's abilities by drawing passive abilities from heroes." A line of text appeared on the status panel.

With a crisp notification sound, Wei Yi watched helplessly as the status panel in front of him went dark, then gradually disappeared.

Were all systems this realistic nowadays?
After the status panel vanished, Wei Yi tried calling out to it several times, but nothing worked. He had no choice but to give up on summoning this all-too-realistic system for now. Instead, he decided to go out for a walk and learn a little about this world.

The excited call rang out again, and this time the voice seemed much closer.
That was when Wei Yi realized.
Could that guy be calling me? he wondered.
Just as Wei Yi was about to turn around and check...

A slap that felt like it would knock him to pieces slammed onto his shoulder, sending Wei Yi sprawling to the ground...
"Hey, Ul, are you okay? Why are you still as weak as ever?"
A worried voice came from above. Wei Yi scowled and looked up. Then he froze!
Pink hair.
A white scarf with black checks that he still wore in this sweltering heat.
A bright, goofy grin.
"Natsu?" Wei Yi tried calling out.
Although Wei Yi hadn't inherited the body's previous owner's memories, speaking was already second nature to the body. So even though Wei Yi didn't know the local language, communicating wasn't a problem.
"Yo! What have you been doing lately? I haven't seen you in over a month," the boy named Natsu said to Wei Yi, sounding rather displeased.
"Nothing much. I've just been studying some magic..."
"Magic?" Natsu froze for a moment. Then, as if he'd remembered something, his mood suddenly soared. He looked ready to breathe fire as he said angrily, "That Erza, passing the S-Class Mage examination! Damn it, I'll beat her one day!"
"And Gildarts, and Gray, too..."
It seemed Wei Yi's words had opened the floodgates. Natsu immediately started rattling off one thing after another.
As Wei Yi listened to Natsu make one boastful declaration after another, his mind began to wander.
Especially when he heard those familiar yet unfamiliar names from Natsu, he was left completely stunned.
He couldn't believe he had actually come to this world.
