Background / History

Natsu lived at an orphanage jointly run by several Mage Guilds, including Fairy Tail. He met Ul there after Makarov had taken him in. Unlike the other children, Natsu had learned Dragon Slayer Magic directly from a dragon since childhood and joined Fairy Tail soon afterward. 2

His foster father, the Fire Dragon King Igneel, vanished without explanation. Natsu made finding Igneel his foremost goal, reacting intensely to any rumor, dragon-related material, or dragon sighting. 30 104 272

Igneel was eventually revealed to have hidden inside Natsu through the Soul Dragon Technique in order to prolong his life and evade Acnologia. Natsu struggled with the revelation that Igneel had been present all along, but ultimately chose to fight beside him against Mercphobia. 516 518

Five years after his earlier adventures, Natsu had grown taller and developed steadier, more resolute features. 433
