Singer had barely gotten halfway through his sentence when Ul suddenly drew his blade. With a pfft, Singer's one remaining arm was severed at the root. His expression froze, and his words cut off abruptly.
Ul grinned, baring a row of white teeth!
"Honestly, you're so weak that I'm having a hard time finding a reason why I wouldn't be your match!"
Ul had no idea where Singer got his confidence, but that didn't stop him from attacking. After all, the person who'd posted the mission had only said to rescue Singer. There'd been no requirement to bring him back in one piece!
So, to be safe, Ul figured he'd cripple Singer first and ask questions later.

The rich man had always had a gloomy air about him. Now that he was enraged, his face was twisted almost beyond recognition.

Truthfully, Ul rather admired Singer. For an "ordinary person (rich man)" to have a whole group of Mages dancing in the palm of his hand made him a pretty accomplished schemer.
The only thing Ul couldn't help mocking was how ridiculously chuunibyou Singer sounded.
He was always talking about ruling the world and the like. Had he ever considered how some black dragon might feel about that? Wasn't he afraid of getting killed by one?
