Time Skeletons were unique Alchemy Lifeforms. Their bones contained complex structures called Bone Meridians, similar to human blood vessels and meridians.
The unique Bone Spirit Power of Time Skeletons was generated, circulated, stored, and strengthened within their Bone Meridians.
Time Skeletons resurrected from Transcendents' bones had even more complex Bone Meridians.
Skeleton Knights, for example, had not only Bone Spirit Power channels in their Bone Meridians, but Battle Qi channels as well. That was what enabled them to practice the Knight Breathing Technique.
Time Skeletons that were not born with Battle Qi channels had no way to learn the Knight Breathing Technique later.
They had no foundation for cultivation unless Medivh could create a Blood Refining Technique suited to Skeletons.
That might be possible. Orc Berserkers and Gnoll Warriors and Warlocks could strengthen themselves by absorbing blood. Medivh could study their Bone Meridian structures and use them as a reference.
But that was all too complicated. For now, it was more practical to melt down and assemble Resurrected Skeletons. The Mage Skeletons were better suited to researching the matter.
Kobold Dragonblood Warriors and Dragonblood Sorcerers had another kind of unusual Bone Meridian. Their Bone Meridians contained blood vessels, making them a special kind of Bone Spirit with Dragonblood flowing through their bones.
In fact, the Bone Meridians of other kinds of Bone Spirits also contained substances similar to blood. It just wasn't as obvious as it was in Dragonblood Kobold Bone Spirits.
