Background

Following the death of his father, Old Master Chen Shuo, Chen Tianren inherited a Chen Family whose business channels, political backing, and control over Ping City were already weakening. The Green Bamboo Gang's betrayal, rising demonic threats, and pressure from rival families left him unable to preserve the family's former position by force alone. 15 20 25

Jiang Ling's report that Luo Bin possessed exceptional compatibility with the Primordial Stance gave Chen Tianren a possible answer to the family’s crisis. He recognized that Luo Bin could inherit the Yellow Court Inner Landscape Origin-Returning Technique, whose compatibility could be passed down through bloodlines, and resolved to bind the young martial artist to the Chen Family at any cost. 15

Personality

Chen Tianren is pragmatic, decisive, and fiercely protective of the Chen Family. He views relationships, resources, and marriage primarily through the lens of the family’s survival, particularly after Chen Shuo’s death weakened their position. 15 20 25

He can be personable and generous toward valuable allies, treating Luo Bin with the consideration normally afforded a son. However, he is also capable of immediate, overwhelming violence against betrayal: when White Moon Hall sided with the Sun and Jiang families, he ordered heavy machine guns to fire without negotiation. 17 19

Chen Family Crisis

After Chen Shuo’s death, Chen Tianren confronts a collapsing political position, the Green Bamboo Gang’s betrayal, and demonic activity around Ping City. Jiang Ling’s discovery of Luo Bin’s talent transforms the latter into a central part of Chen Tianren’s plan to preserve the family. 15

Moon Veil Nightclub Conflict

When Chen Jing and Luo Bin are trapped at Moon Veil Nightclub, Chen Tianren personally mobilizes a rescue force while entrusting Jiang Ling with the protection of the family’s women and children. 16

At Bincha Street, he discovers White Moon Hall’s betrayal and orders his convoy’s machine gunners to massacre its members. The display forces Sun Jingyao’s hidden troops to retreat and reasserts the Chen Family’s authority. 17 18

Securing Luo Bin

After Luo Bin destroys the female specter at Moon Veil Nightclub, Chen Tianren rewards him with Qinghui Courtyard and unrestricted access to family cultivation resources. He openly frames Luo Bin as an indispensable asset to the Chen Family. 19 20

He later attempts to formalize that connection by arranging a marriage between Luo Bin and Chen Manqing, believing that Luo Bin’s potential inheritance of the Yellow Court Inner Landscape technique could sustain the Chen Family for generations. 25 26

Chen Jing’s Kidnapping

When Chen Jing is abducted, Chen Tianren joins Luo Wendi’s armed convoy and follows the rescue effort to the unfinished building near Long Wind Pier. After Luo Bin returns carrying the unconscious Chen Jing, Chen Tianren acknowledges that the family owes Luo Bin greatly. 31 33

Ping City Power Struggles

Following Luo Bin’s confrontation with the Shuo Gang, Chen Tianren arrives at the aftermath and expresses admiration for his growth. He later explains that the Chen Family is not fundamentally a martial lineage and has limited high-level martial personnel remaining in Ping City. 46 47
