Background / History

Chen Jing is Chen Tianren’s son and the younger brother of Chen Manqing, Chen Mansheng, and Chen Du. Though he grew up in the shadow of his distinguished elder brother, he is not jealous; instead, he consciously studies and seeks to emulate Chen Du’s conduct and virtues. 5 21

During Black Sheath Hall’s Elite Selection, Chen Jing notices Luo Bin’s potential and asks that he be allowed to train under Jiang Ling. With the nightclub crippled by a Strange Entity, Chen Jing leads Luo Bin and Zhang Huai to the fifth floor and implements a plan to lure the entity using blood resembling virgin blood. River God Festival

Chen Jing joins Luo Bin and Chen Mansheng at Yingshui Ferry for the River God Festival. He shares information about Chen Du’s involvement with the Gushang Peace-Waves Society and expresses his desire to see more of the world beyond Ping City. 21

Kidnapping and Rescue

While spending time with two female students at Qunyu Garden, Chen Jing is abducted as part of a scheme involving the Pei Family Daoist Jia Yao and Entangling Emotion Valley. The plotters intend to use Spirit Binding and General Commanding to take one of his souls and make him a controllable source of Chen Family intelligence. 29 30

Luo Bin tracks the kidnappers to an abandoned building near Long Wind Pier, interrupts the ritual, and escapes with the unconscious Chen Jing. Chen Jing survives, having been drugged and weakened, but the incident leads Chen Tianren to confine him and require martial instruction under Jiang Ling. 32 33 38
