Background

Luo Bin is a transmigrated graduate student who awakens in the body of a low-status Pei Family servant and guard. When the Pei Family abandons its servants at Long Wind Pier during the Green Bamboo Gang’s attack, he kills Meng Jiu to activate the Crimson Martial Arts Modifier, choosing survival over the loyalty expected of him. 1

After confronting Luo Wendi, Luo Bin persuades the Green Bamboo Gang to spare the surviving guards and their families. Luo Wendi recruits the former Pei guards into Black Sheath Hall and leaves them under Luo Bin’s command at the occupied Pei estate. 2

His ability to perform the Primordial Stance during the Elite Selection draws the notice of Chen Jing, Chen Manqing, and Jiang Ling. Chen Jing arranges for him to train in the Chen Family residence, where Jiang Ling reveals that the stance is a prerequisite to the Yellow Court Inner Landscape Origin-Returning Technique, one of the former dynasty’s Eight Great Miraculous Arts. 5 11

Luo Bin rapidly becomes a valued Chen Family protector after fighting the Moon Veil Nightclub’s female ghost and later rescuing Chen Jing from Jia Yao’s soul-extraction plot. Chen Tianren grants him a courtyard, resources, and recognition as a possible inheritor of the family’s miraculous art. 19 32 35

Though he benefits from the Chen Family’s support, Luo Bin decides not to depend on them alone. He recruits Liang Shuisheng, intends to establish a Demon Hunting Squad, and seeks strength, resources, and capable companions of his own. 36 37

Appearance

Luo Bin’s appearance changes dramatically as his cultivation advances. Once seen as timid and unremarkable, he develops a resolute, handsome face and a broad, muscular build that is repeatedly noticed by allies and onlookers. 2 13 27

  • Blood-stained face and long blade during the Long Wind Pier crisis. 2
  • Resolute and spirited features revealed after Luo Wendi wipes away the blood on his face. 2
  • Muscular arms and pronounced sinews become visible after entering Golden Skin. 13
  • Often wears tailored Western-style suits and white shirts while acting as a Chen Family retainer. 14 35
  • At full output, his Pure Yang Body-Forging Technique causes his physique to expand enough to strain his clothing. 45

Personality

Luo Bin is pragmatic, ambitious, and intensely survival-oriented. His first use of Crimson comes through killing Meng Jiu during the Pei Family’s abandonment, and he later uses hostages, deception, and calculated intimidation against Jia Yao and the Sun Family to secure information and survive. 1 34

He is also observant and strategic. He studies Crimson’s mechanics, conceals abilities that would expose him, evaluates opponents before committing to battle, and seeks practical ways to obtain Spirit Charms and Modification Points. 7 19 32

Despite his ruthlessness, Luo Bin repeatedly protects people he considers his own. He shields Wen Li and former Pei workers, risks himself to recover Chen Jing, recruits Liang Shuisheng because he recognizes the rickshaw puller’s potential, and intervenes against the Shuo Gang’s abuses. 9 32 36 44
