The Path of Divine Descent, as its name implied, was the road traveled by mountain gods and sea gods. It connected mountains and seas, east and west.
Records of Mountain and Sea Exotic Beasts was a very interesting set of books. Much of what it recorded seemed to depict the history of the Mountain and Sea Realm, and the vast majority of its accounts could be matched to things found there.
Among the descriptions that could and could not be matched within the Mountain and Sea Realm, some could further be traced back to the ancient history of The Present World.
There were, of course, also legends seen nowhere else, whose truth or falsehood no one knew.
Thus, some had always believed that the Mountain and Sea Realm was actually a small world that had split off from The Present World in some ancient age. Because no Human Race existed there, it had instead preserved its historical appearance.
Of course, this theory had far fewer supporters than the theories of an extraterrestrial world or Huang Weizhen's creation of the world.
According to the legends recorded in Records of Mountain and Sea Exotic Beasts, the mountain gods and sea gods stationed across the land had visited one another and roamed the mountains and seas by way of this Path of Divine Descent. Later, heaven collapsed and earth split apart, severing the road. From then on, the mountain gods and sea gods of every region no longer traveled between one another.
Finding this road would ordinarily have been a difficult matter.
