Background / History
Qi Xiaoye was found wandering in the Great Fog by Su Ze. Both had become lost and were shivering in the cold before Su Ze summoned the entrance to Avalon. From the outset, he suspected that her unusual nature might be connected to Contained Objects. 43
She suffers from severe amnesia. In a memory-based space resembling a school corridor, she could not remember Su Ze or anyone else, and her failure to solve even basic equations established that she had little aptitude for mathematics despite occasional confidence otherwise. 105 106
After being brought to Avalon, Qi Xiaoye adapted quickly to its warmth, safety, games, comics, and milk tea. She repeatedly sought ways to recover her memories, including using the Hole in the Wall and exploring the Old Days Museum, which felt strangely familiar to her. Neither effort restored her past. 51 124 149 150
Tao Yaoyao later proposed that Qi Xiaoye could be a special Contained Object because of her ability to read information about them. The possibility deeply frightened Qi Xiaoye, who had begun to question whether she was truly human. 196
During the Penrose Stairs incident, Qi Xiaoye learned that her amnesia and unusual powers could indicate that she was a fallen Demigod. She embraced the possibility enthusiastically, though the conclusion remained speculative. 233 237 239 By a later point, Su Ze assesses that she was likely an Ordinary Deity before transforming into the girl who appeared beside him. 600
Appearance
Qi Xiaoye is repeatedly described as exceptionally beautiful, with a slender yet shapely figure and an immaculate, painting-like face. Her appearance is striking enough to unsettle even Chen Keqing and Qin Yushi when they first meet her. 105 106 113
- Pale-pink, shoulder-length hair, with two loose strands resting on her shoulders 105
- Oval face, rosy cheeks, high-bridged nose, and fair, luminous skin 105
- Slender, graceful build; approximately Chen Keqing’s height 105
- Often dresses casually at Avalon, where she commonly reads comics while drinking milk tea 124 162
- Initially wore summer clothing despite being trapped in an icy, snow-covered space 105
Personality
Qi Xiaoye is cheerful, outgoing, straightforward, and unusually quick to compliment other women’s appearances. Her sincerity immediately helps her form a close friendship with Chen Keqing, and she is able to strike up conversations easily even with strangers. 106 121
She is highly curious about her lost past and can become emotionally vulnerable when her identity is questioned. Though she often presents herself as carefree, she was terrified by the possibility of being a Contained Object and insecure about whether Su Ze would protect her. 196 253
Qi Xiaoye is also smug, playful, and receptive to praise, frequently boasting about her beauty, talent, or suspected Demigod status. She can be mischievous and competitive, particularly around Qing Shuang, but is fundamentally compassionate toward suffering Contained Objects and people. 223 239 261 225
