Background / History
Wang Yue served Qin Guihong, the former Qin Family head, for many years. He and Qin Guihong once pursued the Silver Frost Fox together, though the Han Family ultimately captured it; Qin Guihong declined to contest the beast out of friendship with Han Zheng. Qin Guihong also entrusted Wang Yue with the Qin Family’s incomplete high-grade Dragon-Tiger Health-Nurturing Stake and the family’s Tyrant Blade Technique. 4 7
Following Qin Guihong’s death, Wang Yue became the Qin Mansion’s most important remaining defender. He supported Qin Jiu’s authority against Qin Xiong, reassigned Qin Xiong from the Hundred Beasts Garden, and made clear that further disobedience would be dealt with personally. 3 4
When Qin Jiu chose to enter martial cultivation, Wang Yue initially opposed the idea because of his young master’s frail health. After taking Qin Jiu’s pulse, he agreed to teach him the Dragon-Tiger Health-Nurturing Stake, revealing that only Qin Guihong and Wang Yue had known of the art within the mansion. 4
During the Han Family visit, Wang Yue sensed the demonic aura on Han Zheng and warned Qin Jiu and Lady Li. He drew a blade and prepared to confront the Han Family head until the latter produced the bodies of those slain in the demon attack. 6
As Songshan County descended into demon-related unrest, Wang Yue acted as Qin Jiu’s instructor, intelligence gatherer, and bodyguard. He exposed Qin Xiong’s collusion with the Fisher and Chai Gangs, helped suppress the traitor, and personally trained Qin Jiu in the Tyrant Blade’s stance art and blade momentum. 10 11 16
Wang Yue was gravely wounded while accompanying the County Magistrate’s expedition against a Great Demon. He returned to the Qin Mansion with fire poison, his own internal energy, and weak true qi locked in conflict inside his body. Li Yuan treated him, but warned that Wang Yue had exhausted so much vital essence that he had fewer than five years remaining and could die if forced into another intense battle. 35 36
After recovering, Wang Yue found that his old Tyrant Blade backlash injuries had also disappeared and returned to active service. He later accompanied the Qin Family to Ning'an Prefecture and continued handling household affairs, including receiving and registering gifts sent to Qin Jiu. 39 62 63
Appearance
Wang Yue is an elderly, withered-looking man who commonly presents himself as a stooped household steward. When he releases his martial aura, his back straightens and his aged appearance gives way to a sharply intimidating presence. 6 16
- Hunched posture and withered hands in his usual servant’s bearing. 6 16
- Clouded or murky eyes that sharpen noticeably when he is alarmed or fighting. 5 12
- Gray-white hair, which turns completely white after his near-fatal injuries. 5 35
- His reputation as the “Sick Tiger” conceals the danger of his martial ability. 13 35
Personality
Wang Yue is fiercely loyal to the Qin Family and particularly devoted to Qin Jiu, whom he sees as Qin Guihong’s worthy heir. Qin Jiu’s rapid breakthroughs fill him with excitement and gratitude, while his own advice consistently prioritizes the young master’s safety and long-term martial foundation. 5 16 21
He is cautious, discreet, and politically experienced. Wang Yue repeatedly recognizes when the Qin Family is too weak for open confrontation, advises restraint in the face of unclear threats, and keeps Qin Jiu’s exceptional cultivation progress confidential. 5 18 21
Although normally deferential, Wang Yue becomes uncompromising when Qin Jiu or the Qin Family is threatened. He is willing to use force against Qin Xiong, confront Li Yuan over disrespect toward Qin Jiu, and stand guard against demons despite his age and deteriorating health. 11 14 20
Abilities & Skills
Internal Strengthening Cultivation
Wang Yue is the Qin Mansion’s sole remaining Internal Strengthening martial artist during the early Songshan crisis. His presence alone discourages rival families from moving openly against the Qin Family. 5 6
- Can contend with two martial artists of the same realm at the cost of his own life if necessary. 5
- His “Sick Tiger” reputation is sufficient to deter other Internal Strengthening experts after Qin Guihong’s death. 35
- His advanced senses allow him to perceive demonic aura that martial artists at the Three Refinements realm or below cannot detect. 6
- Age, accumulated injuries, and depleted vital essence substantially limit how long he can fight. 21 36
Tyrant Blade Technique
Wang Yue’s martial foundation comes from the Qin Family’s mid-grade Tyrant Blade Technique, passed down to him by Qin Guihong. The art originates from military killing formations and relies on oppressive blade momentum to temper the practitioner’s body. 4 16
- Uses a killing aura and blade momentum strong enough to make Qin Jiu feel as though he is standing in a sea of blood. 16
- Taught Qin Jiu the Tyrant Blade’s seventy-two stance forms, breathing method, internal and external three harmonies, and combat principles. 16 22
- Warns that the technique damages the lungs and viscera, making it dangerous for ordinary practitioners and limiting their future cultivation. 4 16
- Its backlash left Wang Yue with hidden injuries until his treatment after the County Magistrate expedition. 39
Dragon-Tiger Health-Nurturing Stake
Wang Yue is one of the only known keepers of the incomplete high-grade Dragon-Tiger Health-Nurturing Stake. Its stance and breathing method primarily nurture life while also tempering the body. 4
- Recommended it as Qin Jiu’s foundation-building art before learning the Tyrant Blade. 4
- Kept its existence secret because disclosure could bring disaster upon the Qin Family. 4
- Used his medical and martial understanding to monitor Qin Jiu’s training, breakthroughs, and medicine intake. 4 12 13
