Background and History
Qin Jiu was originally a recent graduate before awakening as the eldest young master of the Qin Mansion in Songshan County. His predecessor and father had recently died in a demon attack, leaving Qin Jiu as the sole member of the Qin Family’s direct line. Residual demonic aura left him chronically ill and initially unable to practice martial arts. 1
His fortunes changed when he discovered the Crimson Jade Seal, also called the Red Seal. By engraving talents from spirit-beast illustrations, he gained Withered Wood Meets Spring, which restored his vitality and removed the decay caused by his lingering illness. He subsequently began using the Qin Family’s Hundred Beasts Garden, wealth, and medicinal resources to build a martial foundation. 2 4
As family head, Qin Jiu refused to force Han Qingyue into the Qin-Han marriage alliance after recognizing the Han Family’s decline. He instead offered an alliance based on the former friendship between their families. 7
During Songshan County’s demon crisis, Qin Jiu rapidly strengthened himself while consolidating the Qin Family’s position. He crippled the disloyal Qin Xiong, prepared the family for a possible siege, and used the chaos to eliminate hostile forces such as the Fisher Gang, Chai Gang, and Li Family. 11 19 28 32
After leaving Songshan County with the Divine Guard Army, Qin Jiu reached Ning’an Prefecture and entered the Mystic Firmament Sect. His performance in the sect’s mountain-gate trial earned him recognition from Grand Elder Lu Chengfeng, who accepted him as a direct disciple. 55 58 60
Appearance
Qin Jiu was initially a gaunt, sickly young man with a pale complexion, often dressed in a cloud-blue straight robe. His body changed considerably after recovering and beginning martial cultivation, eventually developing pronounced muscles and a powerful physical foundation. 1 23
- Initially carried a visibly sickly pallor caused by lingering demonic aura. 1
- Regained color and vitality after engraving Withered Wood Meets Spring. 2
- His Blood Sha state makes him visibly pale and physically shrunken despite substantially increasing his strength. 24
- Uses a long azure saber inherited from Qin Guihong. 26
Personality
Qin Jiu is pragmatic, calculating, and highly protective of the Qin Family. He evaluates alliances according to their actual value rather than sentiment, as shown by his rejection of the Han marriage alliance once he understood the Han Family’s weakened position. 7
He is resourceful in cultivation and willing to endure severe methods that ordinary martial artists cannot survive, trusting Withered Wood Meets Spring to repair the resulting damage. He also keeps his most dangerous abilities concealed when possible, particularly the Yin Sha produced by Blood Sha. 13 24
Qin Jiu can be cold and ruthless toward betrayal or perceived threats. He crippled Qin Xiong and Yang Huai, massacred the Fisher Gang to create a distraction, and personally killed Li Mu and Li Shuyan. 11 28 32 47
Despite this severity, he rewards capable subordinates, delegates important tasks to Qin Xuanzhou, and prioritizes Wang Yue’s safety during crises. 23 32 36
