History
Wu Zhanren, known as the Martial God, founded the Martial Arena to cultivate an opponent who could give him a satisfying fight. Unlike the other major factions of the Sword Domain, it did not force anyone to join and allowed fighters to come and go freely 60 63.
Feng Ming directed Bai Yuan to the arena when Bai Yuan said he wanted combat rather than a position in the Scorpion Society. Bai Yuan fought Bitor there, then faced Wu Zhanren in a blade duel. Wu Zhanren later prepared a secluded chamber for Bai Yuan within the arena's territory 60 61 62 63 67.
During the struggle over the Blood Demon Garden's territory, roughly two-thirds of the arena's fighters left to take part, leaving it unusually quiet. While Bai Yuan remained in seclusion, Wu Zhanren accepted recruitment by the Sword Domain Master and departed. The Martial Arena was subsequently disbanded and razed 66 67.
Rules and Rewards
- Life-and-death duels were prohibited unless both fighters explicitly agreed 61.
- A ten-win streak in public matches carried a generous reward. No one had achieved one when Bai Yuan arrived; Jue Feng guarded the tenth match 61.
- Fighters could wager on matches to obtain cultivation resources 61.
Notable Fighters and Matches
- Bitor — Ranked 68th in the arena. He challenged Bai Yuan and conceded after Bai Yuan neutralized his strongest combined attack 61 62.
- Wu Zhanren — The founder challenged Bai Yuan to a blade duel. After losing, he requested a rematch using their domains; his later defeats continued during Bai Yuan's time at the arena 63 64.
- Abyss Rowe and E Gu — Bai Yuan watched their match on his first visit. Abyss's final strike nearly killed E Gu, whose enhanced physique saved him 61.
