Itachi was raised under the strict expectations of the Uchiha Clan Compound and initially behaved with extreme restraint. Tsunade is troubled by how carefully he eats and how deferential he is, while Uchiha Kō responds by feeding, caring for, and personally training him. 391 393

After witnessing Uchiha Kō and Tsunade's affection, Itachi asks Uchiha Kō to begin his training. He studies Uchiha Shisui's movements closely, memorizes techniques after limited exposure, and trains with Shisui under Uchiha Kō's demanding supervision. 388 414
