Upon hearing that Charlotte Linlin intended to return to the Grand Line to find this so-called Hell Pirates, Streusen was incensed. He immediately deduced that the person behind this Mobile Den Den Mushi was undoubtedly a scoundrel from that very pirate crew!
He quickly gathered information on the Hell Pirates, only to find that their captain, Brook, had a bounty of a mere 200 million Beli—how could he possibly compare to Charlotte Linlin's 550 million?
To have the audacity to invite Linlin to join their crew? It would be a mercy if they weren't wiped out entirely.
He had witnessed with his own eyes the moment Linlin's eating disorder erupted, consuming Mother Carmel and all those orphans; how could Mother Carmel possibly still exist?
"Linlin, this Brook is definitely someone impersonating Mother Carmel! You must not be deceived! You are far stronger than him now; there is absolutely no need to join them!"
Streusen resolved to expose Brook's scheme. If he dared to show his true colors? He would make sure to play him to his death!
"What? You dare say Mother is fake?"
Charlotte Linlin's eyes turned blood-red as she grabbed Streusen. She would not allow anyone to speak ill of Mother Carmel, and she was determined to fulfill Mother's dream: to join the Hell Pirates, build a big family, and have all races coexist in harmony!
"Linlin, Mother Carmel is already dead. I saw it with my own eyes; this person is definitely a fake!"
Streusen tried to explain clearly to Linlin, hoping to make her abandon the plan to head to the Grand Line, yet he still did not want to reveal the truth about Linlin being a cannibal!
"Damn you!! You actually dare to curse Mother Carmel as dead? Unforgivable!!"
Charlotte Linlin let out a shocking, monstrous shriek. The sound waves caused the ground to ripple like waves. She gripped Streusen tightly in her hand, glaring at him.
Streusen was horrified. He had miscalculated; in his eagerness for success, he had been counterproductive, touching Linlin's bottom line and saying things he shouldn't have!
He should have guided Linlin to discover Brook's deception on her own—that would have been the best method. Linlin's immense strength and monstrous voice caused Streusen's eyes to bulge and blood to spill from his nose and mouth.
"Lin... Lin... I... Mother Carmel is fine. I can help you go find them~"
Feeling as though his bones were about to be crushed, Streusen hurriedly complied with Linlin's wishes and managed to choke out these words!
"Don't ever speak ill of Mother again, or I will really kill you next time!! Now, go make me something to eat, and find the route to the Grand Line!"
Charlotte Linlin calmed down and released Streusen, her master chef and guide.
"Cough... cough... yes, yes, yes. I won't say it again. I'll go make you something delicious right away!"
Streusen coughed painfully, forcing a smile for Linlin, but inwardly he was cursing Charlotte Linlin as an ungrateful ingrate.
He had painstakingly taken care of her for ten years, yet she had crushed him like this for the sake of a liar. As he turned to cook, his face was dark and gloomy.
Brook, the pain I suffered today because of Linlin, I will make you pay back tenfold! And you, Charlotte Linlin, don't ever think you can escape the palm of my hand, you cannibalistic monster!
Streusen chopped down a large tree and used the power of the Cook-Cook Fruit to slice the wood into pieces of steak. They looked vibrant and delicious!
"Streusen, didn't I tell you not to eat things turned into food by your Devil Fruit! It has no taste at all!!! Where is the treasure we looted? Let's go eat a real feast!"
Charlotte Linlin looked at the food made by the Cook-Cook Fruit with disdain; she wanted to eat real, delicious food!
"Linlin, the treasure we looted last time has already been spent. You spent it all on food. We have to go out to sea and loot again, otherwise, we really have no money left!"
Streusen had a massive headache regarding Linlin's appetite. At first, he used the looted treasure to pay the bills, but later, he simply had Linlin destroy the restaurants after she was full, dining and dashing!
Every island they visited resulted in massive destruction, which was why Charlotte Linlin's bounty had skyrocketed so quickly. As for the looted treasure, it was always split ninety-ten; what did an ignorant girl like Linlin know about math?
Streusen hid the vast majority of the treasure, only taking out a little when Linlin asked, deceiving her into thinking it was all spent and that they needed to go out and loot again!
"Is that so? Why does the stuff we loot get spent so fast every time? Didn't I smash the tavern too?"
Charlotte Linlin counted on her fingers with an ignorant expression. As long as it didn't involve Mother Carmel or food, she remained that naive girl.
"Yes, Linlin. The new clothes and new hat you're wearing, you have no idea how expensive they were! The pastry you ate last time was also very precious; it cost a lot of money!"
Streusen continued to hoodwink Linlin. He had done this kind of deception so many times he was already used to it. Thinking of the mountain of treasure in his secret base, he felt a little thrill.
Hadn't he raised Charlotte Linlin for so many years just to use her immense power to loot these gold and jewels?
This only made him hate that Brook, who wanted to steal Linlin away, even more! She was his tool for getting rich and his guarantee for future power and status; no matter what, he had to expose that bastard Brook!
"Then let's hurry out to sea and loot! I have to prepare a welcoming gift for Brook!"
Charlotte Linlin seemed satisfied with her own thoughtfulness and immediately dragged Streusen onto their looted pirate ship, sailing toward the nearest island!
Linlin's words caused Streusen's expression to shift. Was she already thinking about that damn Brook so soon?
Brook, I will definitely kill you! Streusen cursed through gritted teeth!
Meanwhile, on Edward Newgate's side, Ryan, the captain of the Lion-Man Pirates, gave him a bit of Beli and treasure before leaving him on a nearby commercial trade island.
Looking at the departing pirate ship, Newgate felt both a sense of disappointment in Captain Ryan and a glimmer of hope for the future. A pirate crew that was truly like family?
The tall Newgate, with his blonde hair wrapped in a black cloth and wearing an open-chested burlap vest and black trousers tied with a gray cloth belt, carried a small bundle as he walked into the town.
As a pirate, Newgate rarely stayed on islands; aside from looting and carousing, he spent all his time sailing the seas.
He inquired in town about passenger ships heading to the first half of the New World, wanting to board a merchant vessel to get closer to the Grand Line. His hometown was in the New World, and he had been there ever since he joined a pirate crew.
Come to think of it, he had never actually been to the Grand Line, nor had he ever been to the legendary Fish-Man Island ten thousand meters deep in the sea!
He hoped that the golden flying ship mentioned by Number 2 was real; if so, his future life would surely be magnificent!
