Background / History

Stone Skipping is the first skill recorded by Chen Jue’s Attribute Panel. It activates when a carefully chosen flat, smooth stone skips four times across a pool; failed throws that sink immediately do not produce any notification. 2

Chen develops the skill at White Horse Lake Park. The panel recognizes a throw only when the stone makes at least three skips and travels more than ten meters. Standard qualified attempts grant +1 proficiency, while higher-rated attempts grant larger gains. 4 5

A running throw can earn an Excellent rating, initially doubling the proficiency gain. After reaching Lv1, Chen obtains an intuitive grasp of the sport and can reproduce excellent throws far more consistently. 4 5

After researching professional technique, Chen adopts a roughly 20-degree entry angle and acquires specialized skipping stones. Their smooth surfaces, consistent shape, and suitable weight let him achieve a 50-plus-meter throw with at least 50 skips on his first attempt, earning a Perfect rating. 6 17

Chen perfects the skill after exhausting his remaining stones and scavenging additional ones at White Horse Lake Park. His final throw travels roughly 70–80 meters and visibly skips at least 80 times, nearly matching the world-record-level performance he had seen online. 21
