Background / History

Xie Xie arrives in Eastsea City and meets Tang Wulin and Ji Fengyu at the station. He initially acts arrogantly toward Tang Wulin, but becomes friendly toward Ji Fengyu after learning of his Rainbow Dragon Martial Soul; the three register for Eastsea Academy together 1.

At the academy, Xie Xie is eager to befriend the highly ranked Ji Fengyu, partly because of Ji Fengyu’s reputation and potential value to him. He and Tang Wulin become tentative allies after both are overshadowed by Ji Fengyu’s popularity 2.

After losing to Tang Wulin, Xie Xie is transferred from Class One to Class Five. He is resentful of the demotion and vents his frustration to Ji Fengyu, while Tang Wulin overhears without intervening 4 5.

Xie Xie originally possesses the Light Dragon Dagger and Shadow Dragon Dagger as Twin Martial Souls. He introduces himself as an eighteenth-level agility-attack Soul Master and initially believes his dragon-attributed Martial Souls may enable a Martial Soul Fusion Skill with Ji Fengyu 1 7.

His Martial Soul later evolves into the Holy Light Dragon after Long Yeyue loses control of her Twin Holy Dragons. Wu Zhangkong urges Xie Xie and Wang Jinxi to conceal the change, as its cause and implications are extraordinary 19 20 37.

Xie Xie is initially proud, ambitious, and status-conscious. He is drawn to Ji Fengyu’s power and fame, actively seeking his friendship and hoping for a potential Martial Soul Fusion partnership 2 7.

He can be competitive and jealous, particularly when others appear close to Ji Fengyu. His attempt to expose Gu Yue’s claims about the rainbows backfires, intensifying his rivalry with her; he later feels uncomfortable when Wang Jinxi discusses his previous Martial Soul Fusion with Zhang Yangzi 11 81.

Despite his self-interested streak, Xie Xie relies on and remains loyal to his friends. He joins Tang Wulin in seeking Ji Fengyu’s help, supports Tang Wulin during assessments, and refuses Long Yeyue’s attempt to claim him as a disciple because of his loyalty to Wu Zhangkong 6 12 99 106.
