Facing Kozuki Oden's six retainers, Dimon found himself somewhat interested.
He'd been fighting high-level opponents all this time. At last, he had a chance to crush some weaklings.
Crushing weaklings was way too entertaining!
"Who exactly are you? What are you planning to do to Lord Oden?"
Denjiro wore a pair of glasses and looked like a scholar—a scholarly samurai.
He first shouted his question, then quietly said to his companions:
"Kikuemon, Izo, go check on Raizo."
The two brothers exchanged a glance, immediately retreated several steps, and turned to find the ninja whom Dimon had sent flying with a single blow.
But they had barely run a few meters when a black shadow flashed, and Dimon was already blocking their path.
"So fast!"
The elder brother Izo's face filled with shock. His eyes could not even keep up with that speed. Instinctively, he shielded his younger brother behind him. "Careful..."
"Mizukuni."
A gigantic slash blasted out like heavy artillery and struck Kikuemon and Izo in an instant.
Izo coughed up blood and flew backward.
His younger brother Kikuemon, whom he had protected, fared no better and was likewise caught in Mizukuni's attack.
"Izo, Kikuemon!"
Kanjuro's eyes nearly split with rage as he picked up his brush and began drawing something on the ground.
A Paramecia-type Brush-Brush Fruit user.
Noticing his movements, Dimon immediately closed in and slashed down with his blade.
A figure cut in from the right. With a clang, a samurai sword blocked his attack.
"Oh? You managed to react. Not bad," Dimon praised.
Ashura Doji's expression was grave. He gritted his teeth around the sword hilt, feeling an incomparably massive pressure transmitted from his opponent's black blade.
It was as if he was not facing a human, but a mountain.
Crackle!
Armament Haki erupted with black lightning in their clash, radiating outward in wave after wave like pulses.
"Get away, Kanjuro! I can't hold on much longer..." Ashura Doji roared.
Denjiro was a Two Sword Style samurai. Seizing that fleeting opportunity, he boldly attacked.
"Oden Two Sword Style: Paradise Totsuka!"
It was the exact same sword technique Kozuki Oden had used to slash Kaido earlier—a cross-shaped strike unleashed after closing the distance at extreme speed.
"You're far inferior to your Lord Oden."
Facing the attack, Dimon remained calm. He pressed together the index and middle fingers of his left hand and pointed at Denjiro from afar.
In an instant, a pentagram magic circle unfolded.
The cross-shaped sword energy was swallowed by the magic circle and vanished without a trace, without even stirring a ripple.
"What?" Denjiro's face went blank.
In that instant of distraction, Dimon knocked Ashura Doji's blade aside, then spun around and whipped a kick into Denjiro's head.
It was a blow like an iron whip. Even Saturn could not have endured it, much less a scholarly samurai.
Denjiro spat blood and was kicked away. Like a rag, he dragged across the ground for a long distance.
"Denjiro!"
Ashura Doji was deeply shaken. What kind of enemy was this? In only a few moments, four of their six had been defeated.
Only he and Kanjuro remained.
Kanjuro was still drawing on the ground.
Ashura Doji glared furiously at Dimon and shouted:
"Kanjuro, stop drawing! This isn't an opponent you can handle. Take the others and run first. I'll hold him off!"
Kanjuro abruptly stopped, his face full of unwillingness.
Seeing this, Dimon wore a teasing expression and could not help saying:
"What deep camaraderie. But you're putting it in the wrong place. I called out your names earlier, didn't I?"
"His name is Kanjuro. Didn't any of you hear it?"
"Or did you hear it, but just fail to notice?"
Ashura Doji's pupils shrank as though he had realized something.
He glanced slightly toward Kanjuro and saw that Kanjuro's expression had turned somewhat grim.
"Kanjuro, your name is Kanjuro of the Evening Shower..."
Dimon smiled faintly. "That's a false name. He's an excellent undercover agent. You've worked hard, Kanjuro."
"You... Who exactly are you?"
After a long silence, Kanjuro could not help asking.
He was indeed an undercover agent. As a member of the Kurozumi family, his hatred for the Kōzuki Clan was irreconcilable.
He had infiltrated Kozuki Oden's side in the hope of taking revenge one day.
Could this be an assassin sent by Kurozumi Orochi?
Kanjuro could no longer maintain his disguise. He simply stood up, his previous panic gone and replaced by cold indifference.
He swung his brush like lightning, drawing a monster on the ground.
"Kazenbo!"
In just a few seconds, a burning black monster transformed from a two-dimensional drawing into a real entity.
Ashura Doji was dumbfounded. "No, that's not right... Wasn't your painting skill terrible? How do you explain this, Kanjuro?!"
"Explain what? My identity has already been exposed anyway." Kanjuro grinned, then turned to Dimon and asked directly, "Did Lord Orochi send you?"
"Is he even worthy?"
Dimon flashed forward and drove his blade through Kanjuro's chest.
Then he casually pulled it free, bringing out a spray of blood.
"You..." Kanjuro clutched his wound and dropped to his knees with a thud, his eyes full of disbelief. "Why? Aren't your enemies Kozuki Oden and his group? Cough, cough..."
"No. It's all of Wano Country."
Dimon flicked the blood from his blade and turned toward the last remaining man.
"To be honest, crushing weaklings is getting a little boring. You're the strongest, Ashura Doji. Last a little longer."
Ashura Doji was completely stunned. The successive twists had overloaded his pig brain.
But as Dimon came to kill him, there was no point in thinking too much now.
"I'll win! I am Ashura Doji!!"
He roared and took the initiative to meet the attack.
He had once been the tyrant of Kuri, known as "Kuri's most dangerous monster."
Two years ago, he had lost to Kozuki Oden, been won over by his character, and willingly followed him.
That battle remained vivid in his memory. It had been an evenly matched clash, with him only slightly inferior.
Several hours later.
Thud.
Ashura Doji's samurai sword was knocked away, and his entire body fell stiffly backward.
His body was covered in wounds, bright red blood staining him from head to toe.
"Cough... Damn... monster!"
After weakly cursing, Ashura Doji slowly closed his eyes and fell unconscious from excessive blood loss.
Dimon stood beside him and could not help shaking his head.
"Not much fun. I'll probably forget you the next second."
Other than being a little harder to cut down, compared to the high-level opponents he had fought before, this did not even count as a warm-up.
Having dealt with the retainers, Dimon turned and left.
Not long afterward.
On a small hill, Dimon sat cross-legged and quietly watched the battle between Kaido and Kozuki Oden.
The two truly were evenly matched opponents, and the battle was difficult to call.
No, if he had to say it, Kaido was still slightly stronger. Kozuki Oden was at a disadvantage.
But defeating Kozuki Oden was also very difficult for Kaido.
This was a battle of endurance.
In the world of pirates, evenly matched opponents could fight for days and nights at a time.
The night quietly passed, and the stars grew dim.
When a sliver of pale dawn appeared on the horizon, Kozuki Oden, after more than ten hours of fierce battle, finally ran out of stamina. Kaido seized the opportunity and knocked him unconscious with a single club strike.
"Whew..."
Kaido shifted from his human-beast form back into human form, breathing heavily.
Dimon walked over to the unconscious Kozuki Oden and looked him over.
"Nicely done, Kaido. I thought it would take days to decide the winner."
"Hmph. That was just a warm-up."
Kaido snorted proudly.
