If one were to ask what Ling Chen gained in Slaughter City, aside from the Soul Rings, Soul Bones, and Martial Soul Origin obtained through the Dragon Pillar Space, his greatest harvests were his Killing Intent Perception, Peerless Domain, and his killing intent itself.
Ling Chen had killed no small number of people, and the killing intent he had condensed had reached a truly terrifying level.
Yet, Ling Chen himself could not perceive how vast his killing intent had become, much like someone born with divine strength who remains unaware of it.
However, Ling Chen dared not act rashly; to stand out as the first bird now would be nothing short of seeking death.
Tang San stood before Ling Chen, explaining on his behalf.
"Father, you might not believe it, but he went through the Hell Road with me. The domain that just affected you is his Slaughter God's Domain!"
Tang San's words were so shocking that even the battle-hardened Tang Hao was stunned.
Six years old! Escaping the Hell Road! And possessing a Slaughter God's Domain capable of suppressing a Title Douluo!
Tang Hao could understand these facts individually, but combined, even he found them hard to believe.
"Impossible! Absolutely impossible!"
Tang Hao shook his head in denial. Having struggled through the Douluo Continent for so many years, he wouldn't claim to know everything, but he was certainly well-traveled and experienced.
It was absolutely impossible for this child before him to reach such a level; even a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast that had taken human form to cultivate anew could not meet such bizarre conditions.
Not to mention the perils of the Hell Road, even a place like Slaughter City was difficult for an adult to survive in, let alone a six-year-old child.
But then again, these words came from Tang San; his son would not deceive him. It was also clear from the earlier skirmish that Ling Chen possessed the ability to evade his attacks.
Even if Tang San were mistaken, the situation with this child was definitely not as simple as he had imagined.
"Father, his situation is indeed quite strange; even I cannot fully see through him. However, based on our time spent between life and death on the Hell Road, he is worthy of trust."
Tang San was effectively vouching for Ling Chen. Not to mention that Ling Chen had gifted him the inner core of the Ten Headed Fierce Yang Serpent, the talent Ling Chen had displayed might even be of help to him in the future.
Tang Hao pondered for a moment. He understood Tang San's intentions, but he still felt uneasy about such a monster. He understood the fable of the farmer and the snake; some things could not be judged by their surface.
"Xiao San, I trust your judgment. However, we are going to a certain place next, and I am not sure if this little fellow is willing to follow."
Tang Hao ultimately decided to keep Ling Chen. Tang San would not agree to killing him, so it was better to keep him close and observe.
They happened to be heading to the Moonlight Pavilion to study etiquette, which would be the perfect opportunity to test Ling Chen's character.
Ling Chen, hiding behind Tang San, nodded quickly in agreement. If he were left alone in this godforsaken place, he would sooner or later become food for some Soul Beast.
With a Title Douluo to protect them, Ling Chen would at least not have to worry about his life.
Along the way, the three remained silent. Tang San and Tang Hao were using sound transmission to analyze the information they had on Ling Chen.
Upon learning these details, Tang Hao's expression grew grave.
"Truly incredible! It seems I underestimated him. He can beat adult Soul Masters with just his martial soul, and even cause damage to the Clear Sky Hammer! It is just a pity..."
"It is a pity that he has yet to awaken his martial soul; the power he has displayed is only temporary."
Tang San took up the thread, his eyes drifting involuntarily toward Ling Chen, who was following behind. That two adults could not see through a mere brat was, to say the least, mind-boggling.
"Let us observe him further. If he truly is as you say after awakening his martial soul, he could perhaps join the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect."
Tang Hao did not dismiss Ling Chen entirely. In terms of talent, Ling Chen certainly had some weight to him and would likely suit Chen Xin's tastes.
"The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect? Do you mean to have him apprentice under Sword Douluo, Grandpa Sword?"
"Yes, exactly! If he can inherit Chen Xin's mantle, he will surely be a new Sword Douluo in the future!"
At this, both men turned their gazes toward Ling Chen simultaneously.
Ling Chen noticed their stares and widened his eyes, his brows furrowing as he met their gaze with a look of confusion.
Why were two adults staring at a child like him? Was there something on his face? Didn't they know it was embarrassing to stare at him like that?
The two retracted their gazes and continued walking, leaving a bewildered Ling Chen standing there, ruffled by the wind.
Heaven Dou Empire, Heaven Dou City.
As the three walked down the street, many eyes from the passing crowds turned toward them.
Unsurprisingly, their gazes fell upon Tang San.
Tang San did not mind; he had grown accustomed to it during his time in Slaughter City.
They did not walk for long before arriving at a simple, elegant five-story building.
Looking at the Moonlight Pavilion, Tang Hao's eyes grew distant, as if recalling past events. Before long, his thoughts were pulled back to the present.
Ling Chen, meanwhile, was full of curiosity; after all, the architecture here was far from the dim and oppressive atmosphere of Slaughter City.
The three arrived at the entrance, only to be blocked by two gorgeously dressed individuals.
"Apologies, the three of you, please stop! The Moonlight Pavilion does not receive those who are shabbily dressed!"
As they spoke, the two individuals looked at them with nothing but disdain.
Tang San and Tang Hao were fine, their clothes merely looking a bit old.
Ling Chen was different; the clothes he wore were from the Scarface's Soul Tool, and he had folded and tucked them repeatedly just to make them fit.
In the eyes of those two, they were nothing more than a group of poor commoners—old, middle-aged, and young—and they wondered how they had the face to come to such a prestigious place.
Tang San stepped forward. Facing people who looked down their noses at others like this, some forceful measures were inevitable.
"Move aside!"
A biting aura erupted from Tang San, instantly scaring the two men away.
The three of them walked in as if nothing had happened, arriving at the first-floor lobby. Their attire differed from the other guests present, and they were quickly surrounded by strange gazes.
Ling Chen felt these stares, and memories of the Hell Slaughter Arena flashed hastily through his mind, causing him to freeze in a daze.
"Look at that country bumpkin look on his face. I really don't know how the people at the door let someone like that in!"
"Exactly, could it be some stray cat or dog using the back door just to gawk at the high-quality lives of others?"
Those people whispered and discussed them, yet Ling Chen heard every word with perfect clarity. He was still able to maintain his composure; after all, hadn't he been the subject of controversy before he transmigrated?
Gossip and rumors could simply be cast to the back of his mind.
Furthermore, three Slaughter Gods were standing right here; if they wanted to cause trouble, no one in this Heaven Dou Empire could stop them.
Tang Hao approached a few women, and upon seeing him, they hurriedly bowed in greeting.
Tang Hao merely nodded slightly before saying, "Tell Yue Hua: when the full moon is waning, an old friend arrives as if in a dream."
