Thanks to Belcher, who had sent Luo Xia several samples of Mutant blood before he went missing, the Energy Matrix of many Mutants had already been decoded. Research into their functions, however, couldn't keep up.
Belcher also thought Violet's sudden idea to make these mechanical pets was worth exploring. There were simply too many Energy Matrices, and if he had to experiment on them all by himself, it would take far too long.
But if they installed these Energy Matrices in mechanical pets and let children use them as battling toys, it seemed like his research time could be cut considerably.
After all, humans were incredibly creative. Even AllSpark robots couldn't match them in that regard.
So Belcher generously made twenty different types of mechanical pets for Violet, curious to see what she would come up with.
Violet happily left with her Pokemon, forgetting even Li Bai.
Just before she left, Belcher said to Li Bai, "Be patient until the Commander comes back. Since you specialize in infiltration and assassination, you should know that patience is the most important thing."
Li Bai nodded to Belcher, understanding that it was a well-intentioned reminder. Violet's interruption had also made him realize that he shouldn't have taken his frustration out on Sarah. Everyone had their own way of doing things, but they were all serving Luo Xia, and with enemies all around them, infighting was the stupidest thing they could do.
After returning to the Orphanage with Violet, Li Bai no longer brought up leaving. Instead, he sought out Harry Osborn and helped Violet promote her mechanical pets.
Harry was over six now, and had grown quite a bit since their first meeting. He had kept up with his sword training all this time, and was much taller and larger than other children
