Background / History

Lu Yuan transmigrated from modern times into the body of a weak, frail youth during the collapse of the Great Zhou Dynasty. He awakened in a famine-stricken home shared with his mother, Madam Yang, and his younger sister, Nannan. His first goal was simple: keep the three of them alive and prevent his mother from resorting to desperate measures for food. 1

After taking work carrying corpses with his childhood friend Fang Chang, Lu Yuan received an opening to learn martial arts at Song Academy. His rapid growth was enabled by the destiny known as Practice Makes Perfect, which lets him improve through repeated practice without being limited by his ordinary bone structure or natural aptitude. 1 16

At Song Academy, Lu Yuan kept his progress hidden, secured a top-three meat ration, and began eliminating Black Tiger Gang extortionists rather than remain their victim. He left the academy once the Five Animals Fist reached Perfection, choosing to avoid the academy’s succession dispute and pursue resources independently. 7 23

Zhou Wen recruited him under the Zhou Family’s sponsorship at Guangchun Hall. With access to meat, medicinal soups, and later rare treasures such as Century-Old Blood Ginseng, Lu Yuan advanced through the Dark, Hidden, and Transformation realms at an extraordinary rate. 24 38 48

After rescuing Zhou Wu from Black Cloud Stronghold, killing its Third Master Liu Chao, and later destroying the stronghold, Lu Yuan became a recognized force in Qinghe County. He placed fifth in the Martial Examination and earned the title of Martial Scholar before traveling to Anyang Prefecture. 38 58 71

In the Martial Academy, Lu Yuan entered the Inner Courtyard, exposed his Gold Skin, and repeatedly demonstrated strength far beyond what others expected from someone with merely medium aptitude. He later joined the Sword Hanging Division as a Bronze Sword Envoy, seeking its resources, techniques, and freedom from restrictive factional ties. 88 90 110 117

Appearance

Lu Yuan was initially weak and sickly after transmigrating, but martial cultivation quickly made him leaner, stronger, and visibly powerful. Others describe him as handsome, while his restrained bearing often causes people to underestimate him before witnessing his strength. 1 22 48

  • Originally possessed a weak and frail body. 1
  • Develops a lean, muscular build rather than a bulky frame. 22
  • Frequently maintains a calm, composed expression even in lethal confrontations. 39 72
  • Can manifest a dazzling Gold Garment upon using Gold Skin. 88

Personality

Lu Yuan is pragmatic, disciplined, and intensely protective of his family. His pursuit of martial strength began as a means to keep Madam Yang and Nannan from starving, and later develops into a determination to remove threats before they can endanger them. 1 57 115

He prefers to cultivate quietly, conceal his advantages, and avoid conflicts that offer little benefit. However, he does not mistake restraint for submission; when attacked or threatened, he responds decisively and often lethally. 3 47 72

Despite his ruthlessness toward enemies, Lu Yuan remembers kindness. He remains grateful to Fang Chang for bringing him into Song Academy, lends him silver when asked, and promises assistance to Chen Pi. 23

He has little interest in attaching himself to powerful families or factions merely for status. He declines recruitment by the Zhang Family and the Bright Moon Society, prioritizing independence, cultivation resources, and a stable environment for growth. 54 81 106
