Appearance
Northern Army Camp.
The most elite of the Northern army was the Northern Knights, and the largest number of soldiers were the militia conscripted during the war.
Most of them were ordinary farmers who had only received a little bit of basic training. Their weapons were pitchforks, and those who had an iron sword could pass it down as a family heirloom.
Inside the tent.
A rough map was hung up, with various factions marked in different colors.
"Our forces this time consist of only 417 Northern Knights, 5,000 regular Black Raven Legion, and temporarily conscripted militia, totaling less than 20,000..."
Gran, dressed in military uniform, said, "The Drake Family's army has already entered Dragon City, along with the troops originally loyal to the royal family, and a fortified city. I don't think we should choose this place as the battlefield."
Frank, leaning on his greatsword, his face impeccable, said, "A wise suggestion, but..."
He stood up, like a granite statue. "Philetrin III is my lord. His lord has been murdered, and his subjects have a duty to avenge him! And what of the Raven of the south and the east?"
"The Duke of Black Castle promised to lead his troops north as soon as possible to join us in besieging Dragon City and condemning the crimes of the Drake Family! But he has yet to take any action."
"As for the Duke of the Archipelago, his attitude is somewhat ambiguous, but he is willing to provide us with a batch of supplies."
With information coming in from all sides, a group of knights studied the map and formulated a battle plan.
After the meeting ended and everyone had left, Frank kept Gran behind. "Tell me, my son, is what happened that night the same as what you said?"
"I swear to the Mother Goddess!"
Gran's heart skipped a beat, and he answered loudly, "It was indeed that wicked woman, Fula, who killed her husband and the two princes!"
Frank's expression softened, and he gave him a hug. "Anyway, I'm glad you're back alive."
"Thank you. Actually, I thought I was going to die in Dragon City that day, but an unexpected person saved me," Gran replied, somewhat bewildered.
Who is that person?
"The Court's Chief Mage —Lord Eric."
"So it was Wizard!"
Frank suddenly realized that Wizard always had some unknown methods, and anything that happened was reasonable.
"Is he still loyal to the king?"
"Perhaps!"
However, a different thought arose in Gran's mind.
That palace coup was far too deliberate and crude, and the outcome was something neither of the two families wanted to see.
He has reason to suspect that a third party was involved.
However, he did not voice this speculation.
Because the little wolf harbors ambitions!
If the mainland weren't in chaos, how could knights have a place to use their skills?
As he stepped out of the tent, Rophis, clad in silver armor, followed behind him. "By order of the Duke, I and a squadron will be transferred to your command."
A company of the Northern Knights consists of five Black Iron Knight, one Bronze Knight, and Rophis, making them an extremely formidable force.
"Very well, I hereby issue my first order: Sweep away all nobles loyal to the Queen and the Drake Family!"
Gran's face twisted into a grimace. "We need a constant supply of resources, we need to make sure those who follow us taste the benefits, otherwise our men will lose their morale."
"I will obey your command."
Rophis smiled and bowed, "So, what is your goal?"
"That goes without saying, it's Drake's closest relatives and in-laws..."
Gran looked at Rophis, noticing the surprise on his face. "Do you really think I would attack that Free Territory? I'm not stupid. I'm not going to take action until my advisors have figured out a way to deal with that person."
"A wise decision."
Rophis nodded, bowed, and withdrew.
Free Territory, Manor.
The once bustling scene has become much more desolate. However, a wall has been built around the villa, and it is being continuously raised and reinforced.
"Judging from this scene, war is really on the way."
When Sulu returned to his territory with his Silver Eye, this was the first scene that greeted him.
"Tutor."
Inside the villa, two Ham with heavy dark circles under their eyes saw Sulu and finally breathed a sigh of relief, "You're finally back!"
"Tell me what happened after I left!"
Sulu reclined in his chair, watching Ham.
"In accordance with your will, since you left, within Dragon City..."
Ham quickly recounted what had happened, while Sulu's expression grew increasingly strange. "You mean... our queen wanted to poison Gran, but ended up killing her own husband and two princes by mistake? And in the end, she could only put her daughter on the throne? Are you sure she didn't do it on purpose?"
"In fact, this kind of conspiracy theory is very popular, so the queen has another nickname— the Kingslayer!"
Ham replied with a wry smile.
"I had a feeling that things weren't that simple."
Sulu stroked his chin.
"We don't need to consider who the mastermind is; we just need to figure out how to deal with the upcoming big battle, or rather, which side to choose."
Ham bowed and said, "My lord, although you are a free nobleman, your territory comes from the king. Theoretically speaking, you can be considered part of the king's faction! Currently, some royal nobles have chosen to pledge allegiance to Fula, while others have turned to the North."
"Are you asking about my choice? I choose... neutrality!"
Sulu laughed, "Anyone who dares to invade our territory, we will fight them. That's the right of a noble!"
"Whether it's the Northern Army or the Royal Army? I understand." Ham took a deep breath, feeling much more relaxed.
"Okay, just give that instruction and start preparing."
In reality, you need to be strong to remain neutral; otherwise, both sides might eliminate you first!
Sulu was merely a lord, and his territory couldn't even muster a hundred Soldier. However, because this was a low-magic world, he possessed terrifying individual combat power, which gave him this authority.
Unfortunately, sometimes, it's not that he wants to be a bystander, but others just let him be.
The next day, Sulu had just gotten up and was eating breakfast when a loud alarm bell rang in his ears.
This is proof that an enemy has invaded our territory!
His expression darkened, and after a few flashes, he appeared outside. "What happened?"
"Grown ups!"
Ham pointed to a troop of cavalry not far away. "The knights from the north are watching us."
"Hmm? Could it be that Gran and Frank are really not afraid of death?"
Sulu was surprised.
"No... sir, although they are knights from the North, they may not be here under the orders of those two... they may be here only for personal revenge."
Silver Eye also came to the side to explain to Sulu.
"Personal grudge?" Sulu tapped his forehead. He had killed several knights in the Northern Territory, and those knights should indeed have their own families.
Given the habits of medieval feudal nobles, even if the Duke of Wolf Castle had a clear order, he might not be able to prevent the other party from seeking revenge.
Needless to say, he couldn't give a clear order to stop it, otherwise a civil war might break out in the Northern Territory first.
