449. The Hidden Hand
The monster leaped up, attempting to pounce on Sulu.
"Quiet!"
Sulu frowned, and a surge of Spirit Pressure suddenly descended.
Boom!
The monster seemed to have been struck by a heavy hammer; its body lay sprawled on the ground, its limbs trembling weakly.
"After losing control and descending into madness, did he gain access to even more mysterious knowledge through this?"
Sulu stared at the scene in silence for a moment. "Unintentional? Or deliberate?"
He could tell that this monster was originally Wizard from the Arrogant School, and perhaps had already surpassed the [Whisperer] rank to become a second-tier [Chanter].
However, he didn't seem to take his prohibition seriously, actively engaging with the power of the whispers, becoming addicted to them, and directly losing control and turning into a monster.
"It's not just the body, even the soul has been corrupted; there's no way to save it..."
Sulu sighed, and a burst of ' Erosion Fire ' appeared, covering the monster.
Raging!
Flames are burning.
The monster screamed in agony, but it couldn't get up no matter what it did, like a tiny insect being held down by an invisible giant hand.
The flames eventually covered his head.
A glimmer of clarity returned to the monster's eyes. "I... I am Gross..."
A strange smile appeared on the other person's face, and he quickly turned to ashes.
"It... he's dead?"
David, who was watching, was stunned.
"Yes, the monster has been defeated, we have won."
Karl was even more excited. What he thought was a certain death had been resolved so easily; it was truly a stroke of luck.
not to mention.
He stared at Aldo: "Sheriff, now that the monster has been dealt with, what about the reward...?"
"Please don't worry about this!"
Aldo nodded repeatedly, looking at Sulu with awe.
As long as this powerful spellcaster is around, he wouldn't resort to any tricks, even if it meant suffering a slight loss.
"Alright, let's go clean up the battlefield!"
Karl slapped David on the shoulder. "We can't let that man do everything!"
Dawn.
The commotion and fear of last night have gradually subsided.
Small groups of townspeople gathered outside the two-story building in the center, pointing and whispering amongst themselves.
"Vomit..."
David squatted in the corner, having lost count of how many times he had vomited.
The bloody scene inside the villa still horrified him. "It was so horrific... the mayor's family, including the children, didn't escape..."
"This is the horror of mysterious events! It was like this before, but it's become even more terrifying in recent years..."
Karl sat down next to David: "And that monster, the one the Wizard turned into... Now, do you still want to pursue mysterious powers?"
Thinking of that disgusting monster from last night, David felt a sudden urge to vomit.
He clutched his head. "I don't know..."
"Lord Sulu has been inside the villa the whole time. Do you remember... those blood-red symbols on the walls?" Karl suddenly asked in a low voice.
What are you talking about?
David looked up blankly. He had been terrified; how could he still remember those things?
I just noticed that the blood plasma on the wall did form some patterns, but I didn't really pay attention to it.
"That's the opportunity you've been searching for, the mysterious power."
Karl sighed deeply. "If you're still so determined, this is your best chance."
He stood up and rejoined the group.
"Captain, you're not usually this talkative," the mercenary Susan said with a smile.
"Perhaps..." Karl shrugged. "After all, he's a young man; a few more words of advice won't hurt..."
"And those rituals..."
Susan lowered her voice. "Should we?"
It's best not to.
Karl shook his head. "Didn't you see that the Wizard has turned into a monster? How dare you record that? The best way is to obtain some knowledge from Lord Sulu; perhaps David can persuade him."
Upon hearing this name, Karl's expression hardened, and he looked towards the villa.
"Speaking of this name, it's actually the same as the legendary Dragon Slayer."
Susan licked her lips and said.
"But... that can't be right."
Karl himself didn't believe it.
How could a legendary Dragon Slayer be such a young man?
At this moment, Sulu was standing inside the villa, looking at the Arrogant Rune on the wall.
These runes were clearly written in blood plasma, appearing extremely fragmented and disjointed.
Even without the part of the roof and walls he destroyed, it wouldn't be a coherent system at all.
"But... if we collect more, it seems we can piece together complete knowledge of the mystery, and perhaps even a certain profession..."
Sulu's expression changed slightly. "Perhaps... the ancient sages of the Main World initially acquired mystical knowledge at the cost of madness or loss of control?"
To be honest, he didn't have any good intentions when he passed down the lineage of Arrogant Wizard.
One aspect is the resurgence of Spirit Tide in the testing world.
Another reason is to see if the seeds will bear beautiful fruit so that they can be harvested.
It now seems that human Greed has indeed exceeded his expectations.
Just then, a few people walked in; it was Aldo and several other militiamen.
Their eyes were lifeless, like walking corpses, and they held weapons such as spears and two-handed swords. They stared straight at Sulu as soon as they entered.
"Are they here?"
Sulu smiled slightly, "Clear away negative energy!"
A beam of light flashed and landed on Aldo and the others.
They screamed and rolled on the ground, while in the void, some dark figures seemed to scream and flee.
Sulu took a step forward, following behind the shadowy figure, and arrived at a wooden house in the town. "Come out."
The door creaked open, and in his sight, a Wizard with Arrogant Rune engraved on his body slowly walked out.
"You're the mastermind behind all this? A [Babbler]?"
Sulu stared at him, spoke indifferently, but his words caused David, Karl, and the others who had rushed over to change their expressions drastically.
"Yes, Your Excellency is very familiar with our Arrogant School... Then you should know how unwise it is to be an enemy of us, the foremost school of Wizard."
The old Wizard slightly raised his chin, revealing a hint of pride.
"You deliberately subject your Apprentice to the influence of delirium and have him actively pursue it, all so that his mind can connect with a great being and receive some mystical knowledge?"
Sulu stared at the old Wizard: "As for what will become of him in the end, that's none of your concern."
"So what if it is? The development of the occult requires sacrifices!"
The old Wizard replied with a ferocious expression, "Those who know what's good for them will hand over the knowledge they've acquired... It was bestowed upon me by a great being!"
"You're insane! Do you know how many people that monster killed yesterday?"
David, who had just arrived, couldn't hold back any longer and was about to rush up and smash the old man's head in!
