History

Origins and the Qingchuan Inheritance

The Azurewood Sect became a leading local force through its Core Formation cultivators and long control of the Qingchuan Secret Realm. The realm’s spiritual medicines supplied the resources underpinning its regional dominance 2 15.

The sect obtained only the first half of the realm’s inheritance. Its founder incorporated that inheritance into the Spring Autumn Evergreen Art, but generations of sect cultivators failed to recover the remaining portion 14. Wei Zhong later discovered that the realm belonged to the Spirit Transformation cultivator Bai He and obtained a more complete inheritance himself 23 215.

Wei Zhong’s Settlement

Wei Zhong chose Azurewood territory as a safer place to pursue Foundation Establishment than the Yan or Chen families. Under the identity of Chu He, he paid Luo Mingyan to arrange a Spirit Farmer position for his supposed nephew, Chu Zhong—another identity used by Wei Zhong himself 9.

Luo Mingyan accompanied him to the sect, where Wei Zhong obtained a small courtyard and a Spirit Field after bribing Steward Ning. The sect’s Third-Order Spirit Vein provided richer spiritual energy than the Yan Family’s Second-Order vein 10. Despite the bribery involved in securing his field, Wei Zhong later praised Ning CanKun’s effective handling of disputes among Spirit Farmers 27.

Loss of the Secret Realm and Mountain Expansion

With the Qingchuan Secret Realm nearing resource exhaustion, the sect announced an opening to both sect members and rogue cultivators. It disclosed the depletion beforehand and offered outsiders pill-refining services or payment for valuable herbs rather than demanding a share of their harvest 14.

The realm’s entrance collapsed after the expedition, destroying the stabilizing Array Flags and leaving the sect without a means of returning. Azurewood consequently redirected its development toward the eastern Ten Thousand Beasts Mountain Range, establishing a foothold within a year under the Law Hall Master’s leadership 25.

Expansion brought casualties among Foundation Establishment guest elders and increasingly powerful beast resistance 34 64. Assistance from Ruo Wu Daoist of the Shadow Moon Sect enabled a major victory: he killed a Fourth-Order Wind Wolf, after which Azurewood cultivators pursued the retreating beasts and extended their controlled territory by hundreds of miles 64.

Regional Rivalry and Demonic War

The Yan Family ancestor’s Core Formation breakthrough challenged Azurewood’s local supremacy. The sect attempted to kill him, but Cloud Gathering Commerce intervened, leaving two competing local Core Formation forces and forcing smaller families to choose sides 56.

Azurewood secured the loyalty of the Chen, Yue, and Lin families while targeting the hesitant Sea Moon Lake Li Family for pressure. True Disciples, including Luo Mingyan, were assigned to the matter 60.

The ensuing conflict with demonic cultivators lasted thirty years. Azurewood lost more than a dozen Foundation Establishment elders and deacons, suffered losses among its True Disciples, and lost Pill Hall Master Duan Delong after injuries inflicted by demonic methods 94. Its subsequent purge killed anyone suspected of demonic collusion; the passage describes the resulting killings as exceeding those of the preceding war 95.

Blood Sea True Lord Crisis

Wei Zhong returned with Tantai Lin to investigate the Blood Sea True Lord. After Tantai pressured the sect-protecting formation, Azurewood withdrew it and received the visitors. Its appeal to the Shadow Moon Sect for intervention was rejected 95 97.

Tantai identified blood strands within berserk Wind Wolves as evidence of the Blood Sea True Lord’s scheme. Nie Yuansen then requested his help and pledged manpower to locate the enemy’s main body 103 104. A purge of Azurewood Market exposed extensive infiltration, eliminating nearly one hundred Qi Refining Blood Bodies and more than twenty Foundation Establishment Blood Bodies 108 109.

The sect fought a coordinated assault by Wind Wolves and infiltrators while supplying disciples to Wei Zhong and Tantai’s investigation 109 110. At one outpost, four Azurewood Core Formation cultivators faced twelve Third-Order Demon Wolves. Lian Chengjue committed rare treasures to the defense, helping kill seven of them 116.

The wolves eventually withdrew. Azurewood believed Tantai was confronting the Blood Sea True Lord, unaware that the two had instead cooperated against Huang Qi. Regardless of that hidden agreement, the immediate threat to the sect was resolved 117.

Later Development

Mountain resources allowed Azurewood to accumulate the herbs needed to support Lian Chengjue’s advancement attempt 188. His failure and death were followed by a report that the accompanying Yao ZhengSheng had possibly been ambushed; Yao’s survival was uncertain in that report 190.

By Chapter 215, Wei Zhong described the sect’s development over more than two hundred years as exceptionally fortunate. Its accumulated wealth had funded Soul Stabilizing Pill refinement twice, creating two opportunities for senior cultivators to attempt advancement. He also completed Thunder Essence Pills and another Soul Stabilizing Pill commission for the sect 215.
