A blackbody was an idealized object capable of absorbing all incoming radiation without any transmission or reflection.

But a blackbody itself had a temperature, and temperature arose from the motion of microscopic particles.

Even an ideal blackbody that absorbed all electromagnetic waves would constantly radiate electromagnetic waves outward due to its own microscopic motion.

Other observers could receive the information carried by those electromagnetic waves and thereby depict the blackbody's shape and appearance.

Other means of transmitting information, including gravitational waves, worked on the same principle. Every process of information transmission involved exchanges of matter and flows of energy.
