Background / History

Li Heng lived an isolated but comfortable life in 2048, relying on smart glasses and the AI butler One Two Three. He had high myopia, few friends, and a pet dog named Little Yellow. His friendship with medical student Wang Ziyun began through the game Infinite Horror. 1 10

After a pure white mosquito appeared on his hand, Li Heng awakened with drastically enhanced physical and cognitive abilities. He recognized that his body had changed beyond normal human limits and asked Wang Ziyun to bring Wang Fantian to the Biological Gene Research Center. 10 12

Examination revealed that Li Heng's DNA had diverged so far from humanity that researchers classified him as an unknown carbon-based intelligent lifeform. His electric-eel-like blood cells stored energy, his bones had metallic properties, and all of his cells could divide indefinitely under suitable conditions. 13

The Hong Alliance elevated all information concerning him to Special-Class status. Although Wang Fantian argued for Li Heng's rights, the Alliance transferred him to a guarded Dongsha Islands base, where outgoing communications were prohibited and his research cooperation continued. 14 15

On the island, Li Heng bypassed the information blockade, seized sensory control of the personnel, and coerced Academician Ai Liyuan into assisting with cloning, memory engineering, virtual worlds, and the creation of new intelligent life. 20 21 26
