The Weasley Brothers' Interrogation
From birth, the Niffler has a special fondness for anything Winky. It's always either searching for treasure or on its way to find it, and it rarely stays still.
The Niffler in front of me is less than a month old, tiny, only slightly larger than Galleon. It probably sneaked over when Newt wasn't looking.
After all, this wasn't the first time this had happened. Kyle had noticed it back in Dorset; Newt spent at least three hours almost every day searching for Niffler that had disappeared somewhere.
Anyone else would have probably collapsed by now, and Kyle certainly felt that way.
But if there's only one... then it should still be fine.
To avoid worrying Newt, Kyle quickly wrote him a letter after leaving the box and gave it to Ladon to deliver.
Ladon grabbed the envelope and flew out the open window.
"This is so inconvenient."
Watching Ladon's retreating figure, Kyle thoughtfully stroked his chin.
The Wizarding World is great in every way, except that its communication is far too primitive. An owl takes at least half a day to travel back and forth, which is nothing compared to the convenience and speed of a telephone.
Unfortunately, although Newt himself wasn't opposed to Muggle appliances, their place was far too remote, practically deep in the mountains, and they were surrounded by Muggle-Repelling Charm, making it unlikely they could install a telephone.
After seeing Ladon off, Kyle put Niffler back in the box, then took a shower and changed into clean clothes.
It's worth mentioning that the change of clothes Chris sent to Dorset were all Kyle's from last year, because he has grown quite a bit taller this year, making those clothes very uncomfortable to wear.
In the end, Tina helped to alter it, and it was barely wearable.
Not long after, the Weasley brothers arrived, and the moment Kyle opened the door, they burst in like two thugs.
"We just saw your owl, so we know it must be you coming back."
Fred crossed his arms and stood in front of Kyle, looking very serious.
"I simply can't believe you disappeared for half a month without telling us!"
George blocked Kyle from the other side.
"And what's even worse is that we haven't received a single letter in the past two weeks... Do you know how worried we were about you?"
Kyle remained unfazed by the aggressive behavior of Fred and George.
Worried about him? That's a lie that might fool Ron at best.
"If I remember correctly, you haven't sent me any letters in the past two weeks either."
Kyle raised an eyebrow and said, "Are you sure you're worried about me?"
"Forehead..."
Fred and George's serious faces instantly fell, and they exchanged a glance, communicating almost instantly with their eyes.
"You didn't write to Kyle?"
No, I thought you had written it.
"What a coincidence, that's what I was thinking too."
In fact, the two of them learned of this from Chris on the very day Kyle arrived in Dorset, so of course they weren't worried about him.
The reason they said that was because they had planned it beforehand; they just wanted to find an excuse to mess with Kyle.
Unexpectedly, their meticulously planned scheme, devised in a single night, failed before it even began.
The main reason was that they were so focused on researching Skiving Snackboxes that they never even considered writing to Kyle.
"Cough cough... Of course we're worried about you."
Fred said somewhat awkwardly, "But as you know, Errol is already quite old, and we really can't bear to let it fly that far to deliver messages again."
"Flew that far?" Kyle squinted. "From what you're saying, it seems you know where I went."
The twins' expressions became even more unnatural.
"... It was just a guess, yes, a guess," Fred chuckled. "Now that we see you're alright, we're relieved."
"Is that so..." Kyle continued, drawing out his words, "Then you guessed pretty accurately. I suggest you take Divination Class this semester; you'll definitely shine there."
His current expression is just one slicker-back hairstyle away from resembling that of a Potions Class professor.
"Um... we'll consider it." George turned his head somewhat guiltily and awkwardly changed the subject, saying, "By the way, I have some good news for you. In the past two weeks, we not only successfully completed the Ton-Tongue Toffee, but we've also developed a second Skiving Snackboxes product."
As he spoke, he took a piece of fruit gummies out of his pocket.
The orange gummies are translucent and look a bit like peas.
Fred seemed to have completely forgotten what had just happened, blinked, and said, "Want to guess what it does?"
Kyle took the gummy candy.
Having learned from their experience with the Ton-Tongue Toffee, Fred and George handled it much better this time. There was no Potions smell on it, so trying to get information from that angle was obviously impossible.
Kyle thought for a moment and then randomly guessed an answer.
"Can eating this cause nosebleeds?"
Upon hearing Kyle's words, the twins' eyes lit up simultaneously.
"Nosebleed?!" Fred exclaimed excitedly. "Kyle, that's a brilliant idea!"
"How could we not have thought of that?" George slapped his forehead hard, as if he wanted to knock his brain out.
"What could be better for skipping class than having a nosebleed? Kyle, you're a genius!"
Kyle smiled and said, "Thank you. I must say, you have excellent taste."
Although the nosebleed was their idea, that didn't stop Kyle from accepting this very apt assessment.
"It's a pity that school starts soon," Fred suddenly sighed. "Otherwise, we could try to research it now."
"We'll have to wait until next year," George said with some regret. "Or maybe during the Christmas holidays."
Seeing the two of them looking like they'd lost a hundred Galleon, Kyle chuckled and held up the gummy candy in his hand, saying, "So, what's the point of this?"
"This is Puking Pastilles," George said, shrugging. "It will make you S.P.E.W. uncontrollably."
"However, what you see now is only a semi-finished product," Fred continued. "After all, constant S.P.E.W. can't go on, so we're still working on an antidote."
"Do you need any help?" Kyle asked.
"No need this time."
Fred shook his head and said, "The main ingredient in Puking Pastilles is diluted strychnine juice. All we need are Rue and daisy root to make it work perfectly. We're almost done."
Kyle suddenly realized.
The combination of styrax and Rue here is indeed very good.
