Hogwarts Couldn't Possibly Have a Troll
On Saturday, Kyle arrived at the Great Hall early.
He didn't go for a night stroll yesterday; he went straight to bed after dinner and didn't get up until dawn. He's recovered very well.
Breakfast consisted of sausage and corn chowder, along with a large plate of baked potatoes.
The others arrived when Kyle was halfway through his meal.
"Looks like you slept well last night," Cedric asked, sitting down opposite him. "Didn't have those strange dreams again?"
Kyle laughed and said, "No, I slept through the night."
"That's good."
Cedric picked up a roasted potato and began peeling it. "By the way, I told Professor Trelawney about your situation yesterday. Would you like to know her opinion?"
Without a second thought, Kyle immediately shook his head and said, "Let's forget about it. I've heard that her Prophecy never end well."
"Um...you're right." Cedric nodded.
According to Professor Trelawney, Kyle would have seven consecutive days of dreams, then suffer a mental breakdown and have to be hospitalized at the Hospital Wing. After being discharged, he would encounter Troll and be sent back to the hospital with a single blow.
In short, it was pretty unlucky.
However, it now appears that Professor Trelawney was wrong from the very first statement, and what followed was utter nonsense.
The idea of encountering Troll in a castle... that's simply impossible!
If Troll were to break into Hogwarts, he would eat the entire plate of baked potatoes in front of everyone.
Cedric rubbed his forehead in annoyance.
Just as everyone else had said, Professor Trelawney was a complete fraud. He shouldn't have listened to the Weasley brothers and chosen the Divination Class.
Isn't Arithmancy a good option?
It's too late to say anything now. Even if he wants to change courses, he can only wait until next semester.
Cedric sighed.
Just then, Fred and George arrived.
However, they weren't in good shape; both of them looked like they hadn't slept well.
Although they had experienced sleep deprivation before due to long hours of nighttime outings, today was different.
Professor McGonagall refused their request to switch courses, agreeing only to add one more Ancient Runes.
The three elective courses made their days very fulfilling.
Yesterday, they stayed up until the early hours of the morning to finish their Ancient Runes assignment.
"Merlin, you guys actually did your homework ahead of time?!"
Cedric was so surprised that his hand trembled, and the potato he had just peeled fell to the ground and rolled under the table.
"You guys aren't faking it, are you? Who drank the Polyjuice Potion?" Kyle looked at Fred and George suspiciously and asked, "What do you think of Percy?"
George frowned, somewhat disgruntled, and said, "Hey, of course we're real."
"By the way, Percy's a big tattletale," Fred said.
"Uh... it's true."
Now Kyle was even more confused and asked, puzzled, "Then why did you do your homework ahead of time?"
"For the sake of our ideals!"
Fred said seriously, "You're right. Ancient Runes are indeed very helpful for studying magical items. We already came up with two great ideas during class."
"It's just...too difficult." George said with a pained expression, "Those characters have so many variations, and different combinations represent different meanings. No wonder Percy spent the whole summer looking at them."
Cedric wholeheartedly agreed, as he had also chosen the Ancient Runes, and Fred and George were not joking; it was genuinely difficult.
"Alright, let's talk about something else."
Fred yawned and said, "Kyle, you've decided to join the Quidditch team, haven't you?"
"Yes."
Kyle said, "I already told Harris a few days ago that we'll go straight to the final assessment next week."
"And you guys, have you decided on the new captain and Seeker?"
"The captain is Oliver Wood; he's the most suitable."
"But the Seeker hasn't arrived yet."
Kyle noticed that Fred and George looked even more displeased.
Finding a good Seeker is no less difficult than mastering Ancient Runes.
Many people signed up, but none of them were qualified. Many couldn't even spot the Golden Snitch right under their noses.
If they were to play, Gryffindor would only be able to compete with Ravenclaw for third place.
These past few days, Oliver Wood has been losing clumps of hair, and at such a young age, his hairline is already receding.
Fred and George, looking worried, quickly finished their breakfast and then dragged their tired bodies toward the Quidditch Pitch.
They will continue interviewing Seeker today. They don't expect to be as good as Cedric; they just want them to meet all the requirements.
Professor McGonagall will also be there; she's equally invested in this matter.
At Professor McGonagall's suggestion, Lee Jordan also temporarily withdrew his application to become a commentator.
If they really can't find a suitable candidate in the end, then he'll be the only one left to do it.
Lee Jordan can tell which is more important, a Seeker or a commentator.
After they left, Cedric suddenly raised an eyebrow at Kyle and whispered, "Looks like the Hufflepuff have a good chance of winning back-to-back titles this year."
Not necessarily.
Kyle thought for a moment and said, "Maybe they'll have Seeker in a few days."
"It doesn't matter."
Cedric said confidently, "No matter who it is, even if they bring Charlie back, I'm confident I'll be the first to catch the Golden Snitch."
Kyle smiled.
In other respects, Cedric was always very humble, but when it came to Quidditch, he became a completely different person, defying everyone.
Of course, this is a good thing.
On the first weekend of the new school year, Kyle and his friends decided to visit Hagrid's Hut.
Kanna wanted to go with them, but Snape appeared out of nowhere, took her away.
As for Cedric, he, like the Weasley brothers, is going to Quidditch Pitch.
The teams from all four colleges will be holding preliminary player selections in the next two days, and he plans to gather information to see if there are any outstanding newcomers this year.
For example... Qiu, this girl also signed up for the Quidditch team this year, and she even chose the Seeker position.
Cedric wasn't sure how strong she was, but he was quite looking forward to it.
Last year's Ravenclaw team was absolutely terrible; they were complete free points, easy targets for anyone. Playing against them was basically just going through the motions, with absolutely no passion.
If Ravenclaw had another reliable Seeker this year, the game would be even more interesting.
As for whether he would lose to them... Cedric never even considered that possibility.
Hufflepuff were champions last year, and with Kyle joining them this year, they'll only get stronger.
