Goal, Goal, Goal!
On the field, with the first person eliminated, the pressure on the remaining two suddenly increased significantly.
They had to be extremely careful, trying their best to avoid the two Bludger while looking for opportunities to cause trouble for the other side.
The two exchanged blows for over ten minutes before a winner was finally decided.
To everyone's surprise, the last one left was the third-year student who was not favored. With his agile movements, he successfully turned the tables and defeated his tall and strong fifth-year opponent at the crucial moment.
In the stands, everyone started clapping and cheering.
Harris stepped forward, smiling, and extended his hand. "Willnard, welcome to the team."
"It's my pleasure, Captain." The third-year student also extended his hand and shook hands with Harris.
Another round of applause erupted from the crowd.
Next up was the selection of the Chaser. Kyle stood up, grabbed a broom, and went onto the court.
Go Kyle!
Cedric shouted, and at the same time lit a firework.
Fireworks exploded in the sky above the stands, forming a giant banner with a running badger and the Winky words "Kyle, you will win!"
I don't know where Cedric got those fireworks from, but they're clearly visible even in daylight.
Isn't that a bit too much...?
With this unique way of cheering, Kyle arrived at the center of the court.
He was competing with two other fifth-graders for the Chaser.
"As a Chaser, pitching accuracy is extremely important..."
Harris, holding the Quaffle, said to the three, "I'll be the goalkeeper from now on, and you'll be responsible for throwing the ball. Whoever scores the most points within the time limit will join the team."
So... who wants to go first?
"I'll do it..." Kyle stepped forward.
Although going first without knowing Harris's goalkeeping style is definitely a disadvantage, he does have the advantage of the broomstick, so it evens out.
"Then it's settled. Remember, don't be nervous, just perform normally."
Harris gave Kyle a few instructions and then went to the goalpost.
Kyle also mounted the broom and, with a gentle push, left the ground.
"Can we begin?" Harris asked.
"No problem."
As soon as Kyle finished speaking, someone threw Quaffle up from below.
Kyle caught the Quaffle with a dive and then began to fly quickly toward the goal.
Before Harris could even react, Kyle had already arrived.
Facing an empty goal, he casually tossed the Quaffle in.
"Very!"
Someone below taunted, "Captain, what were you standing there for? Were you holding back?"
"Get out of the way!" Harris's face turned slightly red.
He certainly wouldn't let it slide; he simply didn't realize what was happening.
He had expected the Nimbus 2000 to be fast, but he hadn't anticipated it being so much faster than the Nimbus 1700. Although the two brooms were only two years apart, they were in completely different leagues!
This is really strange... Is this still the same Nimbus Company he knew that only knew how to squeeze out tiny bits of toothpaste?
"Again!"
Harris composed himself and became much more serious; he didn't want to be accused of letting the team win again.
Soon, another Quaffle was thrown up.
Just like before, Kyle caught the ball and flew to the goalpost.
Having learned from his previous experience, Harris reacted this time and stepped directly in front of Kyle.
Kyle gently tossed the Quaffle with his right hand...
"It's the right goal!" Harris thought to himself and instantly flew to the right.
To his surprise, the Quaffle didn't fly to the right at all; it just spun a few times in the air before returning to Kyle's hands.
By this time, the other person had already flown quite far away, and it was too late to turn back.
Kyle scores again.
Twenty points!
"Look, Harry, it's a backflip!"
In the stands, Ron grabbed Harry's arm and exclaimed excitedly, "Merlin! I never thought I'd see one of the Chaser's classic feints here!"
"Is this move difficult?" Harry asked doubtfully.
He was new to Quidditch and didn't know much about these things.
But speaking of feints, Harry suddenly remembered something.
Professor McGonagall had mentioned on the way to find Oliver Wood that his actions when retrieving the Remembrall resembled a classic Quidditch feint.
It was called something like Tron feint... or Wronski Feint... he couldn't quite remember.
They're all pretty much the same.
"It's not hard to throw the ball back, but it's hard to fool the goalkeeper."
Ron thought for a moment and said, "The goalkeeper on the field is the captain of Hufflepuff, arguably the most experienced player at Hogwarts. It won't be easy to fool him."
Harry still didn't quite understand, but judging from the deafening cheers around him, Kyle's move must have been quite spectacular.
So he joined in the cheering.
It doesn't matter if he doesn't understand... he can pretend to understand; his main point is to fit in.
On the other side, Harris's face turned even redder as he listened to the faint jeers coming from below.
He certainly knew how to throw the ball back, and he'd done it more than once. He scored his final goal in the Quidditch Cup two years ago using this trick.
That year, Hufflepuff won the Quidditch Cup points.
But he never expected that one day he would be tricked by a back toss.
No wonder that goalkeeper looked at him so unkindly back then; being toyed with like that is definitely not a pleasant feeling.
"I should have known better than to join in this fun," Harris thought to himself, ruefully.
He was worried that using a real goalkeeper would damage the players' confidence, so he temporarily filled in as a goalkeeper.
In retrospect, this decision seems somewhat unnecessary, but replacing him is definitely not an option, so Harris has no choice but to grit his teeth and continue.
Kyle took two shots in just about a minute, which is still a long way from the allotted ten minutes.
In the following time, he demonstrated in every aspect what the speed of the Nimbus 2000 was like.
No matter which direction the Quaffle comes from, he can catch it instantly, then fly it to the goalpost and score.
Moreover, he scores in different ways each time; sometimes he uses feints, and sometimes he simply uses the speed of his broom to send the ball directly into the net.
Gradually, Harris also started to set off.
He sat on the broom, his eyes burning as he looked at Kyle.
This is a genius Chaser!
Last year's Cedric... this year's Kyle...
Harris couldn't help but smile; he finally understood why Oliver Wood had been laughing so exaggeratedly earlier.
Anyone would find that hard to resist.
