After hesitating for a long time, Kyle ultimately decided not to open the Slytherin statue to awaken the Basilisk.

It wasn't because he was afraid the Basilisk would kill him.

Although the Basilisk is Fantastic Beasts that can kill anyone it glares at, and is ridiculously strong, its weaknesses are also very obvious.

It would flee in panic at the mere sound of a rooster crowing, for that sound was deadly to it.

It's true that an ordinary rooster can kill one of the most dangerous Fantastic Beasts —it sounds like a joke, but it's true.

Kyle came after making thorough preparations. Beforehand, he made a special trip to Hogsmeade, bought more than a hundred roosters through the Owl Post Office, and fed each one Invigoration Draught.

Right now, those energetic roosters are having a party inside the box; just open a crack and you can hear their loud and boisterous crowing.

In Chamber of Secrets space where even the sound of footsteps can be amplified infinitely, the sounds of these hundred roosters would be amplified at least tenfold.

If they were all released, it wouldn't just be fatal to the Basilisk; it would be a miracle if it survived even a second.

But Kyle didn't want a dead snake... or rather, if he had other options, he didn't want to turn the Basilisk into a one-time treasure chest.

The only problem now is how to get the Basilisk to obey him, which is a bit tricky.

After all, he wasn't Riddle, nor did he have any Knut relationship with Slytherin, so he had no idea how to control the Basilisk.

"No, we have to think of something... We can't let that spendthrift Voldemort get away with this."

Kyle squinted, thinking of a particular ghost, Lady Grey of Ravenclaw, namely Helena Ravenclaw.

As one of the Hogwarts Founders, Rowena Ravenclaw's daughter, perhaps she knows something...

Kyle suppressed the urge to blast the Basilisk and walked out of the Chamber of Secrets room, glancing back every few steps.

Fortunately, Voldemort's mind is preoccupied with the Philosopher's Stone this year, so he still has time.

After leaving the Chamber of Secrets, Kyle rode his Broomstick and returned to Moaning Myrtle's Bathroom along the same route he had come from.

As soon as he jumped off the broom, the pool covering the pipes slid back to its original position.

The washroom was silent; Moaning Myrtle had not yet returned.

Kyle wasted no time; after cleaning up the footprints and other traces, he left the place under the Disillusionment Charm.

The corridor was as quiet as the Chamber of Secrets in the early morning, but it lacked some of the eeriness. Kyle glanced at the library door, shook his head, and decided not to copy any more books, but to go straight back to his dormitory.

However, before he could take two steps, a piercing, chilling scream suddenly shattered the surrounding silence.

Having just emerged from the Chamber of Secrets, Kyle was startled and instinctively thought of the Basilisk. His hand trembled, and he accidentally opened the box in his hand.

"Flap... flap..."

A large number of roosters, fed with Invigoration Draught, emerged like a fountain.

Although Kyle quickly closed the box after realizing what had happened, it was too late; more than half of the hundred-plus roosters had escaped.

The corridor instantly became lively.

The library was filled with screams and the crowing of roosters, creating a cacophony of sounds like a concert.

"Merlin's bushy beard, what's he doing causing trouble in the library in the middle of the night instead of sleeping?!"

Kyle slapped his forehead, cursing inwardly.

A little wizard who openly violates school rules like this should have 100 points deducted from his score!

Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from downstairs.

It was Filch, carrying a dim oil lamp, hurrying towards them.

Damn it!

Kyle frowned. He hadn't brought the Invisibility Cloak this time. Although the Disillusionment Charm was useful, it left a shadow, which would give him away if the oil lamp shone on it.

Seeing that Filch was about to reach the top of the stairs, Kyle didn't hesitate and turned to run upstairs.

He remembered that behind a suit of armor on the fourth floor was a secret passage that led directly to the underground classroom corridor.

"Come out, I see you!"

Behind him, Filch's furious voice sounded exceptionally jarring even amidst the cacophony of crowing.

When Kyle reached the fourth floor, he was suddenly bumped by something, but when he turned around, he saw nothing...

There wasn't a soul in sight.

"Harry Potter?"

Kyle frowned; he had a rough idea of who the unlucky guy in the library was.

For a fleeting moment, he suddenly felt a smooth, water-like touch on his hand.

Kyle knew that feeling all too well; it was the Invisibility Cloak.

"It can't be such a coincidence..." Kyle quickened his pace, and then he saw Snape not far away, as well as Professor McGonagall in her pajamas.

Because of the accident just now, loud crowing echoed throughout the castle, startling all the professors.

Professor McGonagall and Snape were just the first to arrive.

Kyle pressed himself tightly against the wall, not daring to move an inch. He absolutely couldn't be discovered now, or he would surely die a horrible death!

"What happened, Severus?"

"Perhaps someone finds Christmas too boring and wants to find some more fun..." Snape said coldly, "How interesting it would be to keep everyone awake! Whoever it is, I'm deducting a hundred points from their score!"

"Two professors..."

Just then, Filch arrived. While still on the stairs, he shouted, "Someone was in the library, in the Restricted Section! I found a broken oil lamp there!"

"Nighttime outing to the Restricted Section, causing chaos and waking everyone up... two hundred points deducted, plus a month of solitary confinement!" Professor McGonagall was clearly furious.

"The Restricted Section?" Snape sneered. "Then he can't have gone far. We'll definitely catch him!"

"Leave the arrest to Argus."

Professor McGonagall frowned and said, "Severus, before that, we need to deal with the immediate problem, otherwise the students probably won't be able to sleep all night."

Good heavens, how did they even get into the castle?!

Kyle noticed that the two voices were getting closer and closer. He was certain that his Disillusionment Charm wouldn't fool the two professors, and they would find him as soon as they turned a corner.

He took a deep breath and began to back away step by step, trying not to make a sound.

A door on the right was ajar, and Kyle's eyes lit up. Without thinking twice, he squeezed through.

Almost at the same time, Professor McGonagall and Snape also appeared in the corridor where he had just been.

"Students these days are really going too far!"

"Minerva, I think we should check the dorms and see who's not here tonight!"
