Hagrid's Self-Blame
When Hogwarts returned to normal the next day, Kyle went straight to the Hospital Wing.
Along the way, almost everyone was talking about what happened yesterday, and they had all sorts of opinions.
"Dark wizards attack Hogwarts..."
"The Death Eaters are back..."
"Fantastic Beasts Riot..."
"The bastard son whom Dumbledore once abandoned seeks justice..."
"The bastard son whom Snape once abandoned seeks justice..."
Kyle had only walked from the common room to the entrance of the Great Hall when he heard five or six versions of the story, each one more outrageous than the last.
Honestly, if Lockhart had applied to Hogwarts earlier, he probably wouldn't have needed to borrow stories from all over the place to write books.
It became a little quieter when Kyle arrived in the courtyard.
There was no one at the entrance of the Hospital Wing.
Because of the Quidditch Match, most of the students went to the pitch, so Hagrid wasn't seen by the young wizards when he was taken to the Hospital Wing, and naturally no one knew he had been attacked.
Kyle knocked on the door somewhat nervously, unsure if Madam Pomfrey would let him in, and even prepared to leave empty-handed.
Surprisingly, Madam Pomfrey said nothing and simply stepped aside to let him in.
"You'd better try to talk him out of it; there aren't Potions to cure depression here."
Madam Pomfrey led Kyle to the bed at the far end of the room and lifted the curtain.
Hagrid lay there listlessly, and Kyle called him several times without any response.
"Is it that serious?" Kyle asked, frowning.
"No!" Madam Pomfrey shook her head. "Last night, the headmaster brought over a special Potions containing Phoenix Tears. After he drank it, his injuries were almost completely healed."
"What's Hagrid's situation now?"
"This is what I was just telling you, he's too depressed, this can't go on."
Madam Pomfrey sighed and said, "Then I'll leave this to you. I'll go prepare the Cheering Potion... I hope we won't need it."
After Madam Pomfrey left, Kyle tried calling Hagrid a few more times, but it still had no effect.
Left with no other choice, he could only take a deep breath and say loudly:
"Wake up, Hagrid! Two Dragon are fighting over a nest of dragon eggs in the Forbidden Forest!"
"Hmm..." This time Hagrid finally made a sound.
His eyes flickered, and he mumbled, "No... we can't hit it, the dragon egg will break..."
"You don't need to worry at all, Hogwarts has no dragons... and no dragon eggs!"
Hagrid turned his head as if he had just seen Kyle.
"Kyle, what brings you here?"
"Of course I heard you were injured, so I came to see you." Kyle handed him a large box of chocolates and said, "Have some, it'll do you good."
"I can't eat..."
Hagrid suddenly grabbed his hair and burst into tears, crying, "Druji... Lula... they're all dead, right before my eyes."
It's all my fault for being so slow... If I had been faster and arrived sooner, they wouldn't have died...
Hagrid cried harder and harder until Kyle could no longer hear what he was saying.
He didn't say anything or comfort Hagrid; he just sat quietly to the side, unpacking one bag of Chocolate Frog after another.
Only after the crying subsided did Kyle speak, "I don't know how to comfort you, Hagrid, but at least you saved that Unicorn."
"Serna ..." Hagrid looked up, his face showing an expression other than self-reproach for the first time, and asked with surprise, "Is she alright?"
"If the Serna you're talking about is that Unicorn... then she is indeed still alive."
Kyle handed Hagrid a handful of Chocolate Frog, watching him pop them into his mouth before continuing, "Newt Scamander came to Hogwarts yesterday, and he took the Unicorn back to treat it."
I think it will probably be able to return to its life in the Forbidden Forest by the end of this school year."
"You really saw Mr. Scamander?" Hagrid asked incredulously. "You're not lying to me?"
"Of course!" Kyle nodded firmly.
These were all things Newt told him personally yesterday when he sneaked into the Hufflepuff Common Room, so there's no doubt about it.
However, they couldn't tell Hagrid what they had said afterward.
Kyle was also baffled. Even if Cedric and the Weasley brothers didn't know he had a box, how did Dumbledore know?
Could it be that Hermione snitched...?
But that doesn't make sense. She can't even see Dumbledore. If she wanted to complain, she should go to Professor McGonagall.
It's great to see Riddle!
"That's wonderful, that's really wonderful..."
Hagrid cried again, but this time it was tears of joy.
"Therefore, the Forbidden Forest cannot function without you."
Kyle shoved the last of the Chocolate Frog into Hagrid, saying, "Don't forget you didn't catch that dark wizard this time. What if he goes back to the Forbidden Forest while you're away?"
Those Unicorn are no match for the evil dark wizard.
"Yes...you're right." Hagrid rubbed his face and sat up in bed. "I'm going back now."
"Don't rush," Kyle stopped him and handed him a small ball about the size of a fist.
"Here, take this."
"Thank you, Kyle, but no need," Hagrid declined. "I've had enough chocolate already, you can keep it for yourself."
"This isn't chocolate; it's a tool I made to signal for help."
Kyle explained, "Once you crush the outer shell, it will launch special fireworks into the sky. Everyone, from Headmaster Dumbledore to the other professors, will see them, as long as they are still at Hogwarts."
Hagrid looked at the small ball in his hand, shook his head, and said, "I don't need this."
In fact, Hagrid believed that he was provoked by the deaths of the two centaurs, and that his momentary carelessness led to his being ambushed and injured.
If he encounters that dark wizard again, he'll definitely be able to beat out everything the other guy ate last night... from above or below...
Furthermore, even if he were truly outmatched, he could always use the magic wand hidden in the pink umbrella to shoot red sparks into the sky to call for help or alert others.
Of course, he still kept the fact that he had the wand a secret from everyone else.
"Here you go, Hagrid." Kyle shoved the item into his hand, saying, "Don't be careless, just think of it as a sacrifice for those Fantastic Beasts ... The sooner we catch the dark wizard, the sooner the Forbidden Forest can return to peace."
"Well... alright." Hagrid thought for a moment and agreed, asking, "Is crushing it all I have to do?"
"That's right," Kyle said. "When you go to the Forbidden Forest, you can carry it in your hand and squeeze it if needed. It's much more convenient than sending out a distress signal."
"Um..." Hagrid turned his head away, mumbling, "I... I don't have a wand..."
