Felix Felicis
For Kyle, this minor mishap on the spell test wouldn't affect his score at all.
"Impeccable," Professor Flitwick said with a smile. "I look forward to seeing your final grades, Kyle."
Hopefully you won't deliberately answer a question wrong like you did last year; after all, it's been a long time since Hogwarts has had a student who gets perfect scores in all subjects.
Kyle smiled a little sheepishly.
The main reason was that he never expected to get a perfect score on his Potions exam last year, so he jokingly wrote down the thirteenth use of dragon blood, thinking that one more or one less point wouldn't matter.
During the Transfiguration exam, Professor McGonagall taught them to transform rabbits into trophies. The more exquisite the trophy, the higher the score; if any rabbit fur remained on it, points would be deducted.
Kyle completed it with equal ease.
The last subject, as usual, was History of Magic. When Professor Binns told them to put down their quills, it meant the academic year was officially over.
After that, they no longer needed to study, get up early, or go to the library to do homework, and could fully enjoy their holiday.
As Kyle walked out of the classroom, the cheers around him never stopped.
Everyone had a smile on their face, and even the air was filled with a joyful atmosphere.
But what Kyle found strange was that some people would give him a very odd look when they saw him.
Some people will give him an encouraging smile, while others will offer undisguised ridicule.
Kyle was completely baffled. Just as he was hesitating whether to grab someone and ask, Cedric happened to walk over from a short distance away.
"I've heard about it..."
Cedric stepped forward, patted Kyle on the shoulder, and said softly, "It's alright. It's just one bad test. It doesn't mean anything. You're still the smartest student at Hogwarts, without a doubt."
"Wait a minute..." Kyle asked hurriedly, "Why are you like this too? What happened?"
Also, what's the meaning of my not doing well on the test? The results came out so quickly?
"Don't you know?"
Cedric said, "Some people noticed that Professor McGonagall kept shaking her head when she looked at your exam paper, so many people are saying that you must have done poorly, which is why Professor McGonagall was so disappointed."
Kyle was taken aback; he genuinely didn't know that was the case.
No wonder Cedric said he didn't do well on the test right away; now I finally know why.
However, Kyle only thought about it for a moment and then didn't pay any more attention to it.
He had practically memorized all the questions to kill time, so he was quite certain that his answers were correct.
As for why Professor McGonagall shook her head... who knows? The thoughts of an older catgirl are not so easy to guess.
"Kyle... we've been looking for you."
At that moment, Fred and George arrived, and whether or not they had planned it beforehand, their first words were exactly the same as Cedric's.
"We've all heard about it..."
"Stop!" Kyle quickly interrupted them. "I did very well on the test, I don't need your consolation."
"So... you want us to praise you?" Fred asked with a strange expression.
"Okay then, let me think about how Mom praised Percy ..." George rubbed his face, making an exaggerated expression, "Look, all Os! I knew you could do it..."
"Kyle, we are so proud of you..."
"Is this alright?" Fred said with a smile. "But I think grades are something to consider a week from now. Isn't it a bit too early to brag about it now..."
"So, you're not here to comfort me?" Kyle asked instinctively.
"Are you kidding me?"
Fred gave him a disapproving look. "If even your grades need consolation, what are we supposed to do? Go back to the dorm and have a good cry?"
"We just came to ask if you're going to the Forbidden Forest."
"We heard there are Kneazle there..."
"Maybe we can catch one and give it to Ginny as a school gift."
"She's always wanted to have a Kneazle."
Kyle thought for a moment, then shook his head and said, "I have other things to do later. Oh, and could I borrow the Marauder's Map?"
The twins, who were initially somewhat disappointed, raised their eyebrows and exchanged knowing, mischievous smiles when they heard that Kyle wanted the Marauder's Map.
"Of course, feel free to take it and use it."
That evening, Kyle quietly left the common lounge and went alone to the entrance of the restricted area.
He had thought for a long time about whether or not to get involved in the Philosopher's Stone mess, and only made up his mind last night.
Come!
The Philosopher's Stone is secondary; that thing belongs to Nicolas Flamel, Dumbledore treasures it dearly, so the chances of him taking it are slim.
Kyle came here for something else.
Of course, since he was going to face Voldemort head-on, he made thorough preparations just in case.
Kyle took a small bottle, no bigger than a thumb, out of his pocket.
Felix Felicis.
He knew very well that he wasn't Harry, and had no ill connection with Voldemort; he would need a bit of luck to survive.
"Hopefully, what I've gained from this trip will make the ticket price worthwhile."
Kyle uncorked the bottle and carefully took a sip of the golden liquid inside.
It would be too wasteful to drink it all; he only needs a few hours of luck.
The next second, Kyle suddenly felt that the whole world was different. An incredibly exhilarating feeling flowed through his body, as if endless opportunities were laid out before him.
He felt he could do anything, that nothing was beyond his capabilities... Things that seemed difficult before now appeared incredibly easy.
"Why did I waste so much time...?"
Kyle smiled and pushed open the goalposts in the penalty area.
Inside the room, Fluffy roared and charged in, but upon realizing it was Kyle, it slammed on the brakes and excitedly jumped twice in place.
"Is it too boring?"
Kyle smiled and waved his hand, saying, "Come here, I'll take you somewhere else to play for a while, how about it?"
Fluffy nodded excitedly on both sides of his head, but the head in the middle hesitated.
"Don't worry, we'll be back soon. Dumbledore won't know, I promise."
This time, Fluffy agreed.
Kyle put it in the box, then took out his Broomstick and rode it down through the Trapdoor entrance.
The room was empty.
He had already moved the previous Devil's Snare, and clearly, Professor Sprout hadn't restocked it.
It's also possible that she didn't know either.
If Kyle's guess is correct, there should be another entrance here that the professors used to set up the challenges.
Because there was no need to enter through the Trapdoor, no one noticed that something was missing from the room.
This is really... incredibly irresponsible.
Don't you know how to check such an important checkpoint regularly?
