Ron's Thought Process
After finishing his lemonade in the Headmaster's Office, Kyle prepared to leave.
Today wasn't the weekend; he had class soon, and Dumbledore seemed to have other more important things to do. Kyle had barely opened the door and hadn't even had a chance to leave when he and Fawkes disappeared from the office.
As for the box containing the Basilisk... it remained in its original place, untouched.
But Kyle didn't intend to take it; he closed the door and left.
Overnight, the castle was completely transformed. Even on the Seventh Floor, Kyle could faintly hear cheers coming from all directions.
Everyone seemed to be celebrating that the Chamber of Secrets had been solved.
While on the stairs, Kyle also encountered Harry.
He had tried to sneak into the Headmaster's Office with the professors, but Professor McGonagall discovered him.
"Kyle, you're finally here," Harry waved.
Kyle walked over. "Class is about to start, what are you still doing here... The professors aren't planning on celebrating with a holiday."
"I know, something happened, I met Mr. Malfoy."
Harry grinned. "And Dobby wants to thank you anyway."
A House-elf peeked out from behind him.
"Sir, you've freed Dobby!" it exclaimed excitedly, its voice sharp and shrill. "Dobby is now a free House-elf!"
"What happened? I don't remember doing anything." Kyle smiled and said, "All I know is that you caught a gloved diary."
Dobby suddenly broke into a smile. "This is it! Master gave Dobby a piece of clothing. Dobby free!"
"Congratulations." Kyle rummaged in the Mokeskin Pouch and pulled out a few Licorice Candy from the corner. "I didn't bring much with me, so consider these a gift."
"It's all because of you, sir!" Dobby scrambled to take the Licorice Candy, almost crying. "You not only saved Dobby, but you also gave him Dobby gift... You're just as great as Harry Potter!"
"Don't say that, I really didn't do anything." Kyle shook his head repeatedly. "It's all Mr. Malfoy. If he had caught the diary the first time, there wouldn't have been this glove issue."
"No, sir..."
They're currently on the Seventh Floor staircase.
Dobby kept thanking Kyle, but Kyle kept declining, refusing to acknowledge the credit.
Harry, who was standing nearby, saw all of this and his admiration for Kyle grew even stronger.
He's a good student, very capable, and humble... no wonder so many people like him.
Kyle, unaware of Harry's thoughts, simply felt Dobby was Dobby persistent, and promptly changed the subject, asking, "Dobby, what are your plans for the future?"
Hearing his question, Dobby stopped thanking him and happily said, "Sir, Dobby wants to find a paid job."
"Good idea." Kyle looked at it, pondered for a moment, and said, "If you need help, you can come find me in Ottery St. Catchpole during the holidays."
Dobby's eyes lit up, and he asked excitedly, "Sir, are you looking to offer Dobby a job?"
"If you need it."
Dobby is willing to work for you, sir!
"It's not for me." Kyle shook his head. He was always at school, and Chris and Diana were rarely home either, so they didn't need House-elf.
He wanted Dobby to Newt's.
Newt is almost a hundred years old. Although he has no problem with daily life, he is clearly struggling to take care of those Fantastic Beasts. If he had a House-elf to help him, it would make things much easier for him.
The Weasley family are also a good option; Dobby doesn't require Dobby compensation, which they can easily afford.
After Kyle explained the situation, Dobby immediately said it was no problem and he was fine with going anywhere.
"Sir's friends must all be kind-hearted people, Dobby be willing to work for them."
"Oh well."
A few minutes later, Kyle handed Dobby a letter, and Dobby immediately left without looking back.
I suppose he went to apply for a job.
After Dobby disappeared, Harry asked curiously, "Did you write down the address of the Burrow?"
"Yes." Kyle nodded.
The two walked down the stairs, ready to go to class.
On the way, Harry hesitated, as if he wanted to say something.
He always felt that Dobby was not suited for the Burrow.
Although Ron had said that Mrs. Weasley had indeed always wanted a House-elf, he could tell that Mrs. Weasley actually enjoyed taking care of her family.
Once Dobby there, he'll probably steal her fun.
Before he could decide whether to say these things, he saw Ron running towards him.
"You're alright!" Harry exclaimed, rushing to greet him with delight.
"Professor McGonagall said I was attacked by Petrification Spell, not by the monster in the Chamber of Secrets, and that she just lifted the curse on me."
Ron looked a little dejected. "What a pity... I mean, if I could lie down for a few more days, would I not have to take the exam?"
Kyle paused, almost thinking he had misheard.
Good grief, they'd rather be attacked than take the exam?
Ron's thought process is definitely different from everyone else's.
When Hagrid returned that evening, Hogwarts held a grand banquet.
Fred and George bought all of Zonko's's fireworks, and the celebrations continued late into the night.
"That's fantastic, nothing could be better."
With his mouth full of chicken legs, Ron mumbled, "And we're going to have House-elf in our family soon. I bet its cooking skills are way better than Mom's."
Harry opened his mouth.
He wanted to say that Mrs. Weasley's cooking was better than the school's, but the sound of fireworks just drowned out his words.
Harry looked at the excited expression on Ron's face, and the idea from that morning resurfaced.
Will Mrs. Weasley really let Dobby stay?
In fact, Harry was right.
A month before the holiday, Kyle received a letter from Mrs. Weasley.
In her letter, Mrs. Weasley told him that since Dobby arrived, she had been so bored she was practically rotting away. She couldn't do anything all day, and even watering the potatoes in the garden had to be done secretly, for fear of making the slightest noise.
"All I can do now is water the potatoes," she wrote in her letter. "I can't even dig up the rotten potatoes and plant new seeds... because by the time I made that decision, the House-elf had already done all the work."
Mrs. Weasley regretted it and wanted to ask Kyle if there was a safe way to fire Dobby without harming Dobby.
In response, Kyle could only express his apologies in his reply and comfort Mrs. Weasley, urging her to persevere for another month.
When school is out for holidays, he will take Dobby to Newt's place.
Mrs. Weasley agreed.
