Tricking Dobby
In the Ottery St. Catchpole, an old-fashioned dark green car wobbled and stopped in front of the Burrow.
The car door opened, and Kyle and several Weasley stepped out.
"We're home, kids. Remember not to leave your luggage in the car."
Mr. Weasley shouted from the driver's seat, but he himself showed no intention of getting out of the car.
His old Ford vanished into the Forbidden Forest after Ron drove it to Hogwarts and could never be found again. This car was borrowed from the Ministry of Magic and he would have to return it later.
Every time Mr. Weasley thought of this, he felt a pang of heartache. He had put a lot of effort into transforming that ordinary Ford back to its original appearance.
Not only did it have the standard Undetectable Extension Charm, but it could also fly, become invisible, and automatically recognize direction... and now it's just gone.
"Maybe I should find an excuse to beat up Ron?" Mr. Weasley thought to himself on his way back to the Ministry of Magic.
"His report card was quite good..."
On the other side, as soon as the group got out of the car, Mrs. Weasley rushed out of the house.
"Thank goodness, you're finally on holiday!"
With the water bottle tucked into her waistband and a brand-new large brush in her hand, she headed straight for Kyle.
"Kyle, you..."
Suddenly, Ron looked with surprise at the House-elf following behind her.
"Oh, you must be Doba... oh no, it seems to be Dobby!"
"Yes, Mr. Weasley," Dobby said respectfully.
"It calls me sir!" Ron seemed a little excited.
"If you like..." Fred chuckled, "We can call you that too."
"Dear Mr. Ron Weasley, may I ask if you may now carry your luggage back to your room?" George chuckled.
Ron's face turned bright red.
But just as he was about to pick up his luggage, Dobby had already stacked the boxes together and carried them back to the Burrow.
"This is so convenient," Ginny exclaimed.
"Yes..."
Ron forgot Fred and George's earlier teasing and began to dream about a life where he would be waited on hand and foot.
"Convenient? I don't think so."
Unbeknownst to them, Mrs. Weasley muttered to herself.
She pulled Kyle aside, and after making sure Dobby wasn't nearby, she asked expectantly, "Darling, it's harsh to say, but can you really get Dobby away?"
"Of course, Mrs. Weasley." Kyle nodded. "But it's too late today. I'll take it tomorrow."
"That's good, that's good." Mrs. Weasley breathed a sigh of relief. "If possible, please try not to hurt it. Dobby is such a good boy, but..."
She suddenly sighed, "Arthur's appetite has been getting smaller lately. I know it's because he wants to eat my cooking."
"I've tried to talk to Dobby, but every time he's terrified, thinking he hasn't done enough, and he'll even bang his head against the table."
"I understand, Mrs. Weasley ..." Kyle nodded. "Leave it to me."
While the two were talking, the others had already entered the Burrow.
Dobby had prepared a large table of cookies and desserts in advance, saying it was for everyone to have a snack before dinner.
However, that table full of cookies was more than enough to eat as a meal.
At this rate, the Weasley family' food expenses are definitely going to increase significantly...
Kyle found Dobby busy in the kitchen, preparing ingredients for dinner and desserts like pudding.
"Gentlemen!"
Upon seeing Kyle, Dobby immediately stopped what he was doing. "Thank you for helping Dobby find a new job. Dobby loves it here."
"I'm glad you like it," Kyle said. "By the way, there's something I wanted to tell you. May I invite you to my house?"
"An invitation... you just said, an invitation!"
Dobby excitedly grabbed his big ears, his whole face turning reddish-brown. "Dobby's very willing!"
Afterwards, Kyle took Dobby back to his home.
"Good news."
Seeing Dobby eager to Dobby wiping the floor, Kyle quickly said, "You've passed your probation period."
"Trial period?"
Dobby bewildered, clearly not understanding what this meant.
Simply put, that place you just visited isn't your actual workplace.
Kyle gave the reason he had already prepared, and just before Dobby could bang his head against the floor, he said the rest.
"You need to work for another family, but the owners there are very picky; only the best House-elf get their approval."
It seems some keyword was triggered...
"Dobby is... Dobby is the best House-elf!"
Fortunately, the floorboards escaped damage.
"Of course, Mrs. Weasley has already told me." Kyle nodded and continued, "You've passed her test and are qualified to go there to work."
After Kyle's persuasive words, Dobby quickly came to believe him.
But it insisted on finishing making dinner before leaving the Weasley family; otherwise, it would rather not be the "best House-elf."
Kyle had no reason to refuse; they weren't leaving until tomorrow anyway, so one more night wouldn't make a difference.
Mrs. Weasley readily agreed.
After dealing with Dobby, Mr. Weasley returned, accompanied by Chris and Diana.
The reunion after a year wasn't as heartwarming as I'd imagined...
As soon as Diana saw Kyle, she immediately put on a stern face and began to scold him for messing with time, saying that he should have written home as soon as he realized he had returned to the past.
Even if I don't receive the letter, you can tell your dad... he'll eventually find me...
Diana squinted. "If it weren't for Dumbledore, I wouldn't even have known you had such a wonderful time at school..."
"Are all the teachers at the school dead? You need to solve that Chamber of Secrets..."
Chris kept his head down, as if he hadn't heard anything. To avoid being caught in the crossfire, he quietly slipped out the door and hid in the Burrow.
The lecture lasted for more than half an hour, and it finally ended only after Kyle repeatedly assured him that Salazar Slytherin had agreed to help him erase the effects of that time travel.
As a Slytherin graduate, Diana harbored an inexplicable admiration and trust for the Founders.
Just like Lockhart's admirers at the start of the school year, they believed everything he said.
I finally waited until nightfall.
The Kyle family, at Mr. Weasley's invitation, set off for the Burrow.
Dobby used up all the ingredients and turned them all into a sumptuous feast.
Mr. Weasley had to conjure up a larger dining table just in time to fit the plates.
Because the dinner was so lavish, it lasted for nearly two hours before it ended. Ron clutched his stomach and slumped in his chair, unwilling to move.
This meal was almost like a banquet at the school.
He was treated like a hostess at home... This was something he never imagined before. No wonder so many people wanted a House-elf.
"This is wonderful..." Ron thought to himself.
Fred and George were also delighted, as with the House-elf, Mrs. Weasley no longer had to clean their room or discover the things they hid under their bed.
And Percy... House-elf are known for being quiet when doing chores, so you won't disturb him.
