Romania's Invitation
When Kyle and Newt left the box and returned to the room, they found a completely transformed Dobby.
It finally threw away its oversized, worn-out pillowcase, and Tina altered Newt's old jacket to make it a new outfit.
Dobby looked Dobby more energetic after putting it on, and he also looked more like an assistant.
However, it looked somewhat uneasy, probably because it had only recently become a free House-elf and still had an instinctive resistance to its new clothes.
However, with Tina around, this situation can be resolved quickly.
She was currently holding up a section of the sleeve and gesturing at something. Newt's jacket was quite large; if it were made for the House-elf, at least three different outfits could be created.
This can be considered a form of employee Fawley... it's just that some aspects are not yet perfect.
Kyle walked over and tore two long silver needles from Dobby's cuffs and collar, placing them in a box on the table. Inside were also things like scissors, rulers, and balls of thread.
"Oh, I was just looking for them..." Tina said with delight.
"Why not use magic?" Kyle asked curiously. "Wouldn't that be more convenient?"
"I used to enjoy using magic when I was younger," Tina said, "But now I find it much more fun, like baking bread and cookies—it's a completely different feeling from magic. More importantly, it helps me pass the time."
Kyle nodded in understanding.
I wonder if older wizards tend to prefer these handmade items; Tina was like that, and so was Dumbledore.
He knits wool socks and scarves without using any magic; it's all done by hand.
Kyle didn't stay at Newt's house for long; he prepared to go back two days later.
I have no choice but to go back.
Ever since Newt discovered Kyle's special uses last year, he hasn't kept him idle.
Although he didn't have to help with births this year, Newt dumped all the listless animals from the box on him.
In just two days, Kyle once again transformed into a chat partner, comforting and guiding more than a dozen Fantastic Beasts.
This includes, but is not limited to, the one-horned bison that lost its appetite after a fight, the Dotley goat that became depressed after failing to find a mate, and the Demiguise that couldn't pull itself out of the ground for ages after being trampled by Erumpent...
Moreover, yesterday afternoon, he even spent four hours chatting with a Occamy that had just laid its eggs.
It was supposed to be over in an hour, but for some reason, after the Occamy recovered, it suddenly became talkative and kept pestering Kyle until Newt came over that evening to call Kyle back for dinner, at which point Kyle reluctantly let go of it.
So early on the third day, after Kyle finished eating, he used the excuse that he needed to go back to write his paper on "Today's Transfiguration" and prepared to leave.
As for the counseling, let Newt handle that... he can do it himself.
But before he left, Newt suddenly called him back, "There's something I think you might be interested in."
"What?" Kyle looked at him warily. "Could it be that another Demiguise has been trampled into the ground?"
"That was just an accident; the Demiguise are usually quite vigilant."
Newt laughed and said, "Three months ago I received a letter from the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary, inviting me to a big event in August."
"If you're interested, I can take you with me."
"Isn't this a bit too dangerous?" Tina, who was standing nearby, put down the scissors she was holding and frowned. "Little Kyle is only in third grade."
"He'll be in fourth grade soon," Newt said. "After his birthday, he'll be just the minimum age the sanctuary has set for him."
A major event? And there are age requirements?
Kyle became curious.
Newt didn't keep them in suspense and quickly explained.
"Joyd told me in his letter that the most powerful dragon in the Dragon Sanctuary, the Ukrainian Ironbelly, is quite old. As its strength declines, the other Dragon are becoming increasingly irritable, especially the Hungarian Horntail, which have been frequently appearing in the territories of other Dragon lately..."
With Newt's explanation, Kyle quickly understood what Newt meant by "grand event."
To put it simply, the "boss" of the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary is about to retire, and the dragon herd is about to hold a re-election.
Dragon are inherently short-tempered creatures; in other places, two Dragon might even start fighting if they just glanced at each other.
Not to mention the Dragon Sanctuary. Although it is a large area, dozens of dragons living together can make it somewhat crowded. Therefore, they usually use force to occupy territories that are more comfortable and have more food.
In this situation, the people in the reserve can't control it, nor can they manage it. They can't expect the Dragon to behave like Swallow-tailed Dog; they can only let nature take its course.
However, this situation does not occur frequently.
According to Newt, this has only happened once since the reserve was established: the Ukrainian Ironbelly defeated all the Dragon, occupied the highest cliff, and has remained there ever since.
This is the second time.
Kyle's eyes gradually brightened.
If that's the case, then it's truly a grand event, and once you miss this opportunity, it's unlikely you'll ever have another chance like it.
"I'm fine with it," Kyle said immediately. "But will the reserve agree to let me go?"
"You can temporarily act as my assistant," Newt said with a smile.
"But this Dobby might not be able to go."
Upon hearing Newt's words, Dobby ear to ear.
Can't go? That's great!
When it was at the Malfoy family before, it had heard them talk about that place. The family felt that the existence of the Dragon Sanctuary seriously damaged the Malfoy family ' interests, causing them to earn far less gold.
A place inhabited by dozens of Dragon... it's absolutely terrifying.
The thought of this made Dobby's legs tremble again.
If it goes, it might not even be able to walk, and it will only cause trouble for Mr. Scamander.
It didn't want Mr. Scamander to think of it as an incompetent assistant.
Thankfully, that won't happen.
Dobby looked at Kyle, who had saved it twice, with gratitude. In its heart, Kyle was even greater than Harry Potter at this moment.
It's a pity it can't work for Kyle's family, otherwise it would definitely mop the floor more than ten times a day...
"But..." Tina was still a little worried.
"It's alright," Newt reassured her. "We're mostly treating the injured Dragon. As long as we stay away from the center of the protected area, we won't encounter any danger."
"And I will also write to Chris and Diana to get their permission before bringing Kyle over."
