The Galleon Award
"Oh... Mr. Scamander, are you going to take you to the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary?"
Chris looked at the letter the owl had just delivered and at Kyle's expectant face before him, and thoughtfully stroked his chin.
"Do you agree to let me go?" Kyle asked.
"If you want, we have no reason to stop you," Chris smiled. "In fact, I received an invitation as well."
He took a letter from the cabinet in the living room.
"I knew it..." Kyle said instinctively.
On his way back, he wondered if Chris had also received an invitation.
As Scamander's student and the deputy director of the Department for Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures at the Ministry of Magic, Chris was quite well-known in the Fantastic Beasts community.
Especially after that incident two years ago, he and Newt returned the smuggled Fantastic Beasts to their original habitat, which greatly boosted his reputation.
It's not surprising that I was invited this time.
So, am I with you?
"No, I'll stay with Mr. Scamander. I might be a little late."
Chris shook his head. "Fudge seems to be taking this very seriously. He wants me to represent the Ministry of Magic in Romania."
Therefore, I had to leave the ministry and complete a series of tedious handovers with the Romanian Ministry of Magic before I could head to the protected area."
"I can tell that this is definitely Fudge's style."
Diana sat down next to Chris. "He probably thinks this will enhance his prestige."
"Perhaps," Chris said nonchalantly, taking the hot chocolate she offered. "Although he might not be too happy to hear that, Mr. Barty Crouch's name is usually more useful in the Ministry of Magic abroad."
Diana poured Kyle another cup of hot chocolate.
"I don't object to you going to Romania to broaden your horizons," she said, "But some necessary preparations are still necessary... how many more times can you wear your ring?"
"Twice." Kyle raised his hand.
Last year during the holidays, he used Apparition once to escape the overly enthusiastic Norbert.
"Give it to me," Diana said. "Just in case, it's better to be safe than sorry."
"Okay." Kyle nodded and then handed the ring to Diana.
"Is it possible to Apparition in a protected area?"
"Yes, it's possible," Chris explained. "The Dragon Sanctuary in Romania is quite large; completely banning Apparition is practically impossible."
Furthermore, there's no need for that. Dragon breeders have special methods to monitor magical reactions within a certain range; they only need to focus on the dragon eggs and hatchlings...
As for adult Dragon, very few people dare to mess with them, let alone steal them Silencio.
Kyle thought about it and realized that it was indeed true.
For so long, the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary has never lost Dragon. Even the Australian Opaleye two years ago was obtained from elsewhere by Oren and his gang.
He also heard that the selection process for dragon breeders was very strict; apart from not needing certificates, it was almost the same as selecting Auror.
I don't know if it's true or not.
After finishing his hot chocolate, Kyle went back to his room upstairs.
He didn't know how long he would stay in Romania this time, and he had to finish his assignments and his paper for "Today's Transfiguration" within a month.
The assignment was fine; Kyle finished it in just a few days, very easily. But the professional paper was a different story.
Professor McGonagall gave him two months for a reason.
This type of academic paper requires rigorous logic. For each viewpoint he puts forward, he needs to use a lot of theoretical foundations to verify its feasibility from multiple perspectives.
He then conducted numerous experiments, meticulously documenting the entire process, and studying and analyzing the final results.
Although the Most Promising Newcomer Award is for current Hogwarts students and the requirements are much more lenient, Kyle still bought more than a dozen books on Transfiguration and spent nearly two weeks finally finishing his paper.
By the time Kyle went outside again, July was almost over.
Meanwhile, a major event was also happening at the Weasley family next door.
"Kyle, come and see this!"
Haha! I bet you won't believe it!
Fred and George rushed over and shoved a copy of the Daily Prophet in Kyle's face.
"Congratulations to Arthur Weasley for winning the annual Daily Prophet Galleon Award..."
Below is another photo of Mr. Weasley standing with Barnabas Cuffe, the editor of the Daily Prophet, both of them smiling happily.
"How many Galleon...?" Kyle asked.
"Seven hundred!" Fred exclaimed excitedly, gesturing wildly. "It was five hundred in previous years, but they felt there weren't enough people, so they increased the prize money."
"We've participated before," George said, "But we've only ever won the prediction prize."
"A total of twelve Sickle..."
"Last time when we were guessing the new Minister for Magic, we lost it all again..."
It's clear that Fred and George are genuinely happy; this is the first time they've been this excited Dobby House-elf, was taken away by Kyle.
Or rather, everyone in the Weasley family was very happy.
When Kyle followed them to the Burrow, he even saw Percy. Normally, he would be in his room at this time, not chatting with Ginny here.
"Oh, I almost forgot about the important matter..." Fred slapped his forehead the Burrow.
"Kyle, Mom is going to use this money to visit Bill. Why don't you come with us?"
"Yes, dear," Mrs. Weasley joined in. "Seven hundred Galleon. This trip will be wonderful."
"I can't wait..." Ginny cupped her face in her hands. "Do you think Bill will take us inside the pyramids?"
Of course...
Everyone was chattering away.
"I'm sorry, Mrs. Weasley," Kyle sighed, "I'm going to the Dragon Sanctuary in Romania with Mr. Scamander in August, so I probably won't be able to travel with you."
"Romania?" Ginny asked in surprise. "Are you going to visit Charlie?"
Their older brother Charlie Weasley, went to Romania to study Dragon after graduating.
"You could say that," Kyle chuckled. "I was even planning to have him as my guide."
"Mom, how about we go to Romania?" George suddenly said. "I've never seen Dragon before."
His statement was agreed upon by everyone.
They were willing to go anywhere, because both the Dragon and the pyramids piqued their curiosity.
"If you want to see the Dragon, we can go next year, but let's stick to the original plan and visit Bill this year."
At that moment, Mr. Weasley came downstairs. "Something big is about to happen in Romania. The Dragon Sanctuary is no longer open to the public, so even if we go, we won't be able to see Charlie."
"But why can Kyle...?"
"Oh?" Mr. Weasley wasn't surprised and asked naturally, "Are you going with your father or Mr. Scamander?"
"Mr. Scamander," Kyle said with a smile.
"I think so... those people will definitely invite him."
Fred became even more curious, and he looked at Kyle and Mr. Weasley with displeasure.
"Please, can someone explain this to us? Why can Kyle see Charlie, but we can't...?"
"Also, what major event has happened in Romania? Can't we really change our itinerary?"
