Happy Memories

Once the chill had dissipated, Madam Pomfrey immediately got up to check on the pale-faced students.

But she had only taken two steps when a hand stopped her.

"It's not the right time yet, Poppy. The students can handle this level of impact." Professor Lupin shook his head slightly.

He then looked at the dejected students around him and said half-jokingly, "Don't be discouraged. I never expected you to succeed on your first try. To be honest, I would be quite surprised if you actually succeeded."

Professor Lupin said, "I want you to remember that feeling, to imagine everything you see as Dementor, and then try it again with that feeling."

However, for those who just failed, your emotions weren't strong enough; perhaps you should choose another memory...

Afterwards, remembering the chill brought on by the Dementor, everyone began practicing freely.

The professors mingled among the students, offering guidance when they made mistakes.

Professor Lupin circled around and soon arrived at the group of Gryffindor students. "Harry, how are you feeling?"

"I'm fine, Professor." Harry looked a little pale, but also a little excited.

This was the first time he had felt the bone-chilling cold emanating from Dementor, yet he hadn't fainted.

In Harry's opinion, there couldn't be a better situation.

"Expecto Patronum!"

He waved his wand in front of Professor Lupin.

A cloud of silvery-white mist churned and surged out, condensing into a blurry shadow in mid-air.

"Excellent," Professor Lupin said. "To achieve this on your first try, you've already surpassed many fourth-year students, Harry."

"Professor, when can we face Dementor again?" Harry asked. "I feel like something's missing."

"It's not the right time yet," Professor Lupin shook his head. "Even if we don't directly confront Dementor, we can't experience them too many times. We should take it slow."

Remember what I said earlier? It's a very complex spell, and you have to take it one step at a time. You're already doing quite well at your current level."

Harry was somewhat disappointed, but since Professor Lupin had already said so, he could only nod and say nothing more.

Not far from them, Cedric also wanted Professor Lupin to open the box again.

His Patronus's outline was already quite clear... a pointed beak, a long neck, and wings, every part was very clear, but it was just a little bit off.

Just like dough, no matter how lifelike the shape, it's not real.

He felt he was about to succeed, just a tiny bit more away.

If Professor Lupin had closed the box a second later, it might have worked.

But now...

Unwilling to give up, Cedric waved his wand again... but the outline remained the same, showing no sign of transformation.

"Perhaps you could try a different memory."

At this moment, Professor McGonagall, who had walked over, said, "I noticed that your Patronus showed signs of solidifying just now, but then dissipated. Clearly, your emotions weren't strong enough."

"Professor McGonagall," Cedric said quickly, "I think I need some pressure. Could you let me face the Dementor again?"

"I don't recommend you do that," Professor McGonagall said. "There are many ways to learn the Patronus Charm, not just through Dementor."

She had never approved of Professor Lupin bringing the Dementor to the school, even though there was a box between them.

But since Professor Dumbledore had already agreed, Professor McGonagall had no choice but to come along just in case.

Fortunately, so far everything is still relatively normal.

Next to Cedric, Kyle was teaching Kanna how to practice the spell.

She was a little worse than Cedric, but she made rapid progress, and the originally blurry figure gradually took on a general outline.

"How did you do that?" Cedric asked in surprise.

It took him a month to get to this point, while it took Kanna less than two hours.

"Perhaps my memories are pleasant enough," Kanna said. "This spell is amazing; whenever I recite the incantation, those memories provide me with a constant source of power."

"That's it?" Fred exclaimed in surprise. "Why didn't we feel it?"

"What are you thinking about?" George asked.

"A lot..." Kanna unconsciously curled the corners of her mouth.

"Received my Hogwarts acceptance letter... made my first friend... received my first candy... earned my first Galleon... met Professor Snape..."

They appear whenever I need to find happy memories...

"Strange, we're experiencing the same thing," Fred muttered to himself. "The acceptance letter, the first Galleon we earned... it's all the same, but why isn't it working as well for us as it did for you?"

"I even imagined what it would be like a few years from now, when we'd laugh at the store when it opened," George said. "But that would be even worse...it's been our dream all along!"

"It's a memory, not a daydream," Kyle said.

"The joke shop really makes us happy," Fred said. "We even sometimes dream about it and wake up laughing."

"It's different," Kyle said helplessly. "Imagined delicacies will only whet your appetite, but they will never make you feel full."

It's the same principle.

The Patronus Charm requires you to find those most authentic feelings of "fullness" in your memory.

"The real..."

"Feeling full?"

Fred sighed in disappointment, "We thought we'd found a shortcut..."

"I didn't realize it was a mistake," George said. "No wonder our Patronus Charm is getting worse and worse..."

After finding the right method, Fred and George gradually became more adept at using the spell.

Although her progress is still not as obvious as Kanna's, it's still better than most people here.

Cedric waited for two hours, and Professor Lupin never opened the box again until the club ended.

That's enough for today.

He clapped his hands, and after everyone quieted down, he continued, "Although we didn't directly confront the Dementor, I still suggest you all eat some chocolate when you get back... it should make you feel much better."

"Professor, when shall we come again?" someone asked.

This is also a concern for everyone.

"About a month later," Professor Lupin said after thinking for a moment. "That should be enough time for you to digest what you've learned today."

From now until the end of the school year, I will open the club once a month. As for the specific time, I will let you know in advance."
