Clever Hagrid
Hagrid's expression was very serious.
Although he liked the Dragon's teeth and wanted them, he wouldn't let Kyle lose money; that was absolutely unacceptable.
"It's different, Hagrid."
Kyle explained with a smile, "These aren't bought handicrafts. If you look closely, you'll see there are no traces of carving on them."
"Really?" Hagrid looked at a Dragon tooth with a hint of disbelief.
It was spotless, which was indeed a bit different from what he had seen.
He took out another one and found scratches and dents on it.
"See?" Kyle said. "I picked these up from the Dragon Sanctuary, and I didn't spend a single Knut on them."
"I found them..." Hagrid paused, "So many of them?"
"This is only part of it..." Kyle said. "You must have heard about the huge battle in the Romanian Dragon Sanctuary. Back then, Dragon had their teeth broken almost every day. At my busiest, I could pick up seven or eight teeth in ten minutes."
Hagrid's expression was completely blank; he even forgot to give Kyle the money... Clearly, he didn't know about it.
When he came to his senses, he was instantly in a bad mood.
Dozens of Dragon, a chaotic battle... these words lashed at his nerves like Whomping Willow.
He simply couldn't believe what he had missed.
If he had known it would turn out this way, he would have crawled to Romania, even if it meant crawling.
"You should have told me sooner... you should have told me sooner..." Hagrid muttered to himself, jumping up and down in frustration.
Kyle shrugged.
It's not that he doesn't want to talk about it, but rather that it would be pointless to talk about it anyway.
If Hagrid hadn't been invited, he would have been stuck in the settlement and wouldn't have been able to see anything.
It took Hagrid a long time to calm down.
Kyle leaned closer and asked, seemingly casually, "Hagrid, how many Manticore are there in the Forbidden Forest?"
"Two," Hagrid said, "One big and one small. The big one was injured and has been recuperating deep in the Forbidden Forest."
"Injured?" Kyle frowned. "What could possibly injure them!"
Even among the 5X level Fantastic Beasts, the Manticore is extremely dangerous.
With immense strength and agility, its fur repels almost all known magic, and its scorpion tail is highly venomous. Not to mention ordinary wizards, even Werewolf in its transformed state would die from a single poke.
"I don't know..." Hagrid, still immersed in regret, said casually, "But it has a large wound on its body. I guess it was discovered by Dragon or Chimera when it was at its weakest, which is why it had no choice but to run to the Forbidden Forest to give birth."
"It's lucky you found it," Kyle said. "I mean, the Forbidden Forest isn't exactly a safe place, is it...?"
"Yes, you're right." Hagrid looked towards the Forbidden Forest. "I found the Manticore when I was looking for Aragog. Luckily, I moved them to a different location, otherwise, those..."
At this point, Hagrid suddenly fell silent. "... Nothing, the Forbidden Forest is indeed very dangerous."
He didn't want anyone to know who Aragog was.
However, Kyle didn't seem to care and continued, "Is it seriously injured?"
"Oh, it's not serious," Hagrid said. "Although it looks scary, I checked it, and it's all superficial wounds. A Dittany dapoxetine will do the trick."
"Need any help?" Kyle said. "I have plenty of freshly ripened Dittany here, and I've also learned quite a few methods for healing Fantastic Beasts from Newt."
"No."
Hagrid suddenly became wary, turning to look at Kyle suspiciously, and said, "Why are you so concerned about the Manticore...?"
"It's nothing, I just wanted to help," Kyle explained. "You know, neither my dad nor Newt would leave an injured Fantastic Beasts unattended."
"That would be best." Hagrid remained vigilant.
He now knows that Kyle is quite adept at dealing with Fantastic Beasts.
Both Norbert and Fluffy liked him very much. They even talked about how, when they were drinking with the other professors, Professor Dumbledore had given the Basilisk from the Chamber of Secrets to Kyle.
Although this is just speculation, and no one actually witnessed the process of the Basilisk being transported, they know Dumbledore too well, especially Professor McGonagall, who surely knows something.
Professor McGonagall remained silent throughout their discussion of this topic, which speaks volumes.
Is Kyle planning to Manticore this time...?
Thinking of this, Hagrid suddenly tensed up and said seriously, "I must remind you, don't even think about attacking the Manticore. It's recently been injured and has just given birth, which is the most dangerous time for it than usual."
Kyle coughed lightly, then said without changing his expression, "You've misunderstood. I really just wanted to help out."
As he spoke, he opened the Mokeskin Pouch, grabbed a handful of Dittany, and handed it to Hagrid.
"Look..."
The roots of the Dittany still had moist soil on them, so it looked like it had just been pulled up a few days ago; it was indeed very fresh.
Hagrid glanced at it but didn't take it. "No need, Kyle. Professor Sprout has plenty of Dittany, and there's some in the Forbidden Forest too. We have enough."
"Is that so? That's good..." Kyle chuckled, put the Dittany scallion into his leather pouch, and then took out another item.
"Essence of Dittany, this stuff is much better than Dittany..."
A few minutes later, Kyle returned to the table in front of the pumpkin patch.
"What did you two just talk about?" Kanna asked softly. "You seem quite disappointed."
"It's nothing, I just wanted to help, but I was refused," Kyle said, somewhat disgruntled. "And Hagrid even said I had ulterior motives. Don't you think he went too far?"
"Yes, Hagrid went too far," Kanna said with a smile.
Although she didn't know what had happened, her intuition told her that Hagrid was right.
Of course, we can't say that now.
After getting the answer he wanted, Kyle sighed helplessly.
To be honest, he did try to find out the location of the Manticore, but Hagrid seems to have learned his lesson.
He took out Dittany, Essence of Dittany, and even the healing potion Newt used to treat the Dragon's wounds, but Hagrid refused to accept any of them.
And no matter what he says, the response is always the same few sentences...
"I don't know what you're talking about..."
"Don't ask, I won't tell you even if you ask..."
"You're not allowed to go into the Forbidden Forest, or I'll tell Professor Sprout!"
What's going on? Hagrid suddenly seems so smart.
