Final Exam
After leaving the classroom, Kyle felt a sense of relief. Based on what Professor McGonagall had said earlier, he had thought the assessment for the Most Promising Newcomer Award would be very difficult, but it turned out to be so simple.
By the time Kyle arrived at the classroom upstairs, the exam had already begun. Professor Flitwick was even somewhat alarmed when he saw him.
"Merlin's beard, what are you doing here? Hasn't Professor McGonagall found you?" He jogged over to Kyle's side, pointing towards the second floor, and said, "Go quickly to the room next to the library, someone is waiting for you there..."
"I just came from there, Professor Flitwick," Kyle said.
"What?" Professor Flitwick paused. "You've already met Professor Marchbanks?"
"Yes," Kyle said, "And I passed the test. She was the one who asked me to take the test, and she said it should be enough time to come now."
"You definitely have enough time; in fact, the exam hasn't even started yet," Professor Flitwick said with a smile after receiving the answer. "However, you don't actually need to come..."
Kyle didn't say anything.
Although Professor McGonagall said the same thing, everyone was taking exams, and there was no one in the castle; he would be bored if he went back.
The two entered the classroom.
The Charms class exam tested the Leg-Locker Curse, Kyle easily completed.
After dinner, the students rushed back to the common room to review for their upcoming exams.
After the Potions Class exam on the morning of the second day, the atmosphere in the entire castle suddenly became terrifyingly low. Even lunchtime was unusually quiet, as if Dementor would attack the school the next day.
"It's too difficult."
Mikel finally couldn't hold back any longer and sighed, " With Snape standing behind me, I couldn't think straight at all. I made so many mistakes in the steps, and the color of the potion was wrong too."
And as he left, he jotted something down in his notebook; I bet it was a complete zero."
His words resonated with those around him.
It seems like everyone has had the experience of being watched from behind by Snape, as if he wanted everyone to get a zero on their tests.
However, the exam in the Care of Magical Creatures, which Hagrid was presiding over, was much more interesting.
He somehow got hold of a huge bucket of Fire Crab, saying that to pass the test, you had to find out what the Fire Crab liked to eat most.
There were three kinds of food on the field, and they were all from the Fire Crab's recipe. They could pass the test even if they picked any of them blindfolded. It was arguably the easiest test they had ever taken.
Kyle also had many opportunities to speak with Hagrid.
"Thank you for the tonic, Kyle."
Hagrid whispered, "There are some spiders in the Forbidden Forest. They haven't been very energetic lately and need some tonics."
"How are they now?" Kyle asked.
"Much better," Hagrid said happily. "He looks exactly the same as before, very healthy."
"That's good." Kyle was also pleased.
Hagrid then gave Kyle a perfect score without even glancing at the Fire Crab in Kyle's hand.
They had Astronomy exam in the middle of the night. Everyone fought off their sleepiness and groggily made their way to the top of the tallest tower. On the way, they complained that the exam should have been held last.
That way, I won't have to worry about being late for the exam the next day, and I can get a good night's sleep.
The History of Magic was on Wednesday afternoon, and it was the most grueling exam yet. The classroom doors and windows were tightly shut, there wasn't a breath of wind, and it was unbearably stuffy.
Fortunately, all of this will be over soon. After tomorrow... they will be enjoying a two-month vacation.
The penultimate exam was Divination Class.
Early in the morning, Kyle went to the Divination Classroom and placed a brand-new crystal ball in a corner, a spot directly facing Trelawney.
The exam was very long, with each person needing about ten minutes to finish, making the Divination Class the longest exam, lasting from morning until noon.
When Professor Trelawney finally came out, Kyle, who had been waiting for a long time, hurriedly returned to the classroom.
Unfortunately, this time, Trelawney didn't make a single real Prophecy until the end of the exam.
The crystal ball was brand new, and there was nothing recorded inside.
Kyle picked it up with some regret and put it back in his pocket.
These aren't cheap, ten Galleon each, I just don't know if they can be returned...
When Kyle arrived at the Great Hall, it was already full of people.
Everyone was excited, sitting together chatting enthusiastically, and happily looking forward to the end of the afternoon exam.
Kyle sat down between Kanna and Cedric, just in time to hear them talking about OWLs.
"How did it go?" Kanna asked. "Was the question difficult?"
"It's a bit harder than usual," Cedric said, "But it's okay, it's all stuff we've learned before. Don't worry, you'll definitely pass next year."
In fact, the NEWT for seventh grade is the really difficult one. Many seventh graders haven't slept at night these past few days, they've been memorizing all the time."
"What about their exams during the day?" Mikel leaned in, "After not sleeping for days, will they still have the energy?"
He only slept a few hours less for the Astronomy exam, but he already felt incredibly sleepy today. If he didn't sleep for two or three days in a row, he doubted he would even be able to get up.
"Just tough it out," Cedric said. "Or drink some Invigoration Draught the night before. Although many Potions are forbidden during the Nastily Exhausting Wizarding Test, Invigoration Draught aren't. As long as you drink it early, there won't be any problem."
The final exam was Defense Against the Dark Arts.
Professor Lupin presented the most unusual test they had ever given, an outdoor test similar to an obstacle course.
The area he had previously set up next to the Forbidden Forest came in handy.
They must traverse a grove inhabited by Augurey, cross a swamp teeming with Imp, and reach a thicket to find three Bowtruckle hidden there beforehand. If they fail to find them all within the allotted time, or if they injure them, points will be deducted.
"Very good, Kyle."
When Kyle emerged from the passageway, Professor Lupin smiled and said, "Full marks!"
Kyle was the first to get a perfect score.
Mikel, who entered the arena with him, was still stuck in the first stage. He was affected by the Augurey and kept spinning in place, occasionally jumping up as if something was blocking his way.
He only regained consciousness a few minutes later when he crashed into a tree.
Even from a distance, Kyle could see his flushed face.
Kanna also passed the exam, and like Kyle, she got a perfect score.
