Kyle, Be More of a Gentleman
Upon reaching the shore, Kyle leaped off his horse, which drew cheers from the stands. Everyone stared at the Kelpie with excitement and curiosity, discussing it animatedly.
"Oh, he's really impressive, isn't he?" Ron said enviously. "He can ride a horse through the water like a knight. If it were me..."
"Don't talk nonsense, Ron. You don't think it's some kind of docile herbivore, do you?" Hermione interrupted his reverie, saying, "Kelpie, a dangerous carnivorous Fantastic Beasts. Even an adult wizard can't handle it without specialized knowledge."
"What? It eats meat?" Ron picked up the Omnioculars hanging around his neck and looked at the Kelpie floating on the surface of the water. Only then did he notice that it had two rows of saw-like sharp teeth in its mouth.
"I take back what I just said," Ron said, frowning. "I would never ride such a monster under any circumstances."
On the other side, Kyle had already helped Kanna and Gabrielle down. He took out his wand and waved it, and the three of them immediately dried their wet clothes.
"Wait a moment."
Just then, Kanna suddenly realized something, "You brought Gabrielle out, what about Phoebe?"
"Those Merpeople will tell her."
Kyle said, "In fact, by the time the Champion arrived at the tribe, the Second Task was already complete. The so-called rescue of the treasure was just a formality, and the Merpeople would not launch an attack at all."
So all she has to do is come out of the water, and that will be considered a success."
"But what if the judge gives her a low score because of this?" Kanna was still a little worried.
"No, that won't happen." Kyle shook his head. "After all, I was the one who broke the rules, so if anyone's going to be penalized, it would be my points... Besides, Madame Maxime wouldn't allow that to happen."
Kyle and Kanna both looked in the direction of the referee, where five people were discussing something. Then they saw a satisfied look on Madame Maxime's face.
"See, I told you so," Kyle whispered. "They certainly wouldn't let their academy suffer a loss."
As they were talking, Madam Pomfrey came running over from the crowd in a great alarm.
Even though their clothes had dried, she wrapped each of them in a thick blanket and gave them a fiery potion.
Kyle felt a warm current flow through his body, followed by hot air coming out of his ears.
"Very good, Kyle. I'm so glad you weren't misled."
Professor McGonagall came over and whispered, "As wizards, the wand in our hands is what we should trust most."
"Alright, come over here," she said. "You'll need to wait a while until all the Champion have come out before we start scoring."
"Oh well."
Kyle followed Professor McGonagall to where the referees were.
As soon as Kyle stepped onto the stairs, he saw Dumbledore walking towards him with a smile on his face.
"Excellent judgment and decisive action," he said with a smile. "Although we haven't reached the scoring stage yet, I can give you a heads-up... perhaps this will put your mind at ease as you sit here and wait for the other two Champion."
"Just as you came up, an hour had passed, so without a doubt, you also got the highest score in this project."
"Congratulations, child," Ludo Bagman said as he walked over.
However, Kyle could tell that his smile was somewhat forced... and the same was true for Karkaroff and Olympe Maxime.
Kyle was then seated in the first row of the High Table. Kanna was originally supposed to be with her, but before she could even sit down, Snape came over and dragged her away, giving Kyle a murderous glare in return.
Kyle was speechless. It wasn't like he'd let Kanna get involved; it was Professor McGonagall and Dumbledore's arrangement. Why didn't he go after them? Why only pick on the weak?
Of course, he only thought it to himself and didn't dare to say it out loud.
As for Gabrielle, she was taken away by Madame Maxime.
You were the first one to come out.
After Kyle sat down, Sirius couldn't help but say, "I knew you could do it."
"What about them?" Kyle asked in a low voice, "How are the other two Champion?"
"They're all later than you," Sirius said. "The girl from Beauxbatons is alright, she's only ten minutes later than you. As for Durmstrang, he just came out of the Forbidden Forest five minutes ago."
Kyle nodded.
Judging from this, the Second Task is probably nearing its end as well.
Then, Kyle sat in the stands for twenty minutes.
There's nothing I can do here; I can only sit there... I have to say, the person who designed this project is a true genius.
Fortunately, Sirius was nearby, so we could chat when we had nothing to do, and time didn't pass too slowly.
Finally, after sitting for half an hour, movement was heard again on the calm lake surface.
All eyes turned to them.
This time it was Phoebe who came out... but unlike Kyle, she was brought ashore by a group of Merpeople, and she was already unconscious when she came ashore.
The referees rushed over, and Olympe Maxime took out a wand that was at least twenty inches long and tapped Phoebe on it.
After spitting out several mouthfuls of lake water, the unconscious Phoebe slowly opened her eyes.
"Madame Maxime ... Gabrielle ..." Upon seeing Madame Maxime and the people around her, she immediately cried out anxiously, "My Bubble-Head Charm was broken by Grindylow! Quick, Gabrielle ... she's still..."
"Sister, I'm alright." The little girl quickly stepped forward.
Phoebe was stunned for a moment, then hugged her tightly. "Gabrielle... Thank God, I thought... I thought..."
A few minutes later, Krum also came out.
He used a Transfiguration on himself, turning his upper body into a shark's head, and roughly bit the Durmstrang boy's clothes underwater, throwing him onto the shore.
Judging from his actions, he didn't treat the treasure with any care; it was more like he was throwing a Quaffle.
However, the audience still gave him a warm round of applause.
Dumbledore came to the water's edge and spoke to the Merpeople, making a sharp, high-pitched sound; clearly, he could also speak the Merpeople language.
Finally, he stood up, turned to the other referees, and said, "Let's have a meeting first."
The referees huddled together to discuss the matter.
While Madam Pomfrey was tending to Krum's wounds, Phoebe ran straight to the stands where Kyle was.
"I heard everything from Gabrielle ..." she said, almost breathless with excitement, "You saved her again, this is the second time."
"Not really," Kyle said with a laugh. "Professor Dumbledore wouldn't let her get into danger. Even without me, the Merpeople would have brought her up."
"Thank you, she must have been very scared..."
Perhaps she was too excited, because Phoebe didn't seem to hear what he said and instinctively leaned her head closer.
In an instant, Kyle felt his head buzzing, as if some kind of alarm had been sounded, and the hairs on his neck stood on end.
He instinctively moved back a little, and blurted out, "It's nothing, I was just worried you might not be able to get there, so I brought her up with me."
Phoebe's movements came to an abrupt halt.
She looked at Kyle and asked, word by word, "What do you mean... I might not make it...?"
"What happened just now?" Kyle said calmly. "Weren't you brought up here by the Merpeople? That just proves I was right, doesn't it?"
Phoebe's eye twitched slightly.
"So you assumed from the beginning that I definitely wouldn't be able to finish the Second Task, right?"
"Well... you can't say that," Kyle said after a moment's thought. "It's just a precaution."
Phoebe took a deep breath, then turned and walked away without saying a word, her long silver hair brushing against Kyle's nose.
"Hey, you should be more of a gentleman," Sirius said, frowning, with a hint of disappointment in his expression.
Who talks to a girl like that, especially such a pretty one...? This guy seems pretty smart, how come he's such a blockhead?
"You don't understand." Kyle shook his head.
Although he didn't know if Phoebe had intended to express her gratitude with a cheek kiss, he dared not gamble.
Kyle glanced back and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Kanna talking to Snape.
However, Sirius was not happy about it.
"I don't understand?" He seemed to feel slighted, raising an eyebrow. "You have no idea how popular I was back in Hogwarts..."
