Nicolas Flamel's Letter

Was Diana ever Auror?

To be honest, this was indeed a bit unexpected for Kyle. He subconsciously thought that Professor Moody had misremembered, but upon closer reflection, it seemed that there was indeed such a possibility.

Kyle remembered going shopping in Diagon Alley the year he received his college acceptance letter. The once bustling Leaky Cauldron fell silent the moment Diana opened the door.

However, simply being Unspeakable within the Department of Mysteries is clearly not enough to accomplish this, since this identity is kept secret and few people know about it.

"Auror..."

Kyle muttered something under his breath before turning back to the classroom door and walking with Kanna toward the stairs.

For the next two weeks, Kyle continued to go to the Headmaster's Office every Saturday to study with Dumbledore, which made everyone who knew about it extremely envious.

Easter is just around the corner, and this is the last long holiday before the end of the school year.

The OWL exams for fifth graders seem to be just around the corner, with more and more homework and increasingly strict requirements from professors.

They are now using more parchment every day than they used to in the past week.

But Kyle was an exception, because he was studying under Professor Dumbledore, and all he had to do were write Potions Class and History of Magic assignments.

Needless to say, Potions Class was a different story; even Dumbledore couldn't get Snape to exempt Kyle from his homework. As for History of Magic... even if Dumbledore said something, it wouldn't make a difference.

Even so, Kyle saved a lot of time. According to Mikel, Professor McGonagall now makes them do a roll of parchment homework every day, and every time he goes to Hogsmeade, he has to buy a stack of parchment and two bottles of ink as a backup.

The day before the Easter holidays, which happened to be a Saturday, if anyone was outside the castle, they would see the windows of the Headmaster's Office flashing gold and red light.

The Headmaster's Office had also been completely transformed; the room had been enlarged countless times, and Dumbledore had moved an entire lake, roughly the size of the Black Lake, into his office.

On the surface of the lake, tiny flames still burned. The room was frighteningly hot, like an oven. All the past principals were huddled together in a framed picture with a winter background, as if that would cool them down... even though they couldn't feel the change in temperature at all.

Fawkes seemed quite pleased; it stood on the perch with its eyes half-closed, occasionally letting out a comfortable humming sound.

"Indeed, even I can't find any fault with it." Dumbledore said, looking at Kyle, who was sitting in a chair, panting heavily.

He waved his wand, and in an instant, the lake disappeared, and the Headmaster's Office returned to normal.

"Have some, you'll like it."

A cup of hot cocoa appeared on the table next to him, and Kyle picked it up and took a big gulp.

"As I just said, Kyle," Dumbledore took a sip of his tea, "You have completely mastered this spell; there is no need for further study..."

"By next Saturday, you won't need to come here anymore; you can do whatever you like."

"Okay." Kyle nodded, calming his excitement before taking out the booklet Dumbledore had given him and saying, "Professor, could I have this?"

"If you like it, of course, no problem," Dumbledore said with a smile. "To be honest, when this content was published back then, almost no one read it...most people weren't very interested in Ancient Runes."

"But there are still some people who like it, aren't there?" Kyle said.

"That's right," Dumbledore said with a smile. "Oh, by the way, there's something else I need to tell you."

"What?" Kyle put the booklet away again and put it in his pocket.

"It's about the Easter holidays." Dumbledore opened the drawer and took out a red stone fragment.

"This wouldn't happen to be Nicolas's Portkey, would it...?" Kyle blurted out.

The main reason was that Kyle recognized it too well; he had one himself, albeit a blue one. It was given to him by Nicolas Flamel a few years ago, who said that if needed, it could allow him to return to the library in his old Paris house.

However, Kyle has never used this thing until now, and he doesn't know exactly when Nicolas was referring to it.

"It seems you remember, so I don't need to explain further." Dumbledore nodded. "That's right, this is the Portkey."

"Nicolas wrote to me yesterday saying you might need this... Oh, here it is."

Just then, a brown owl appeared outside the window.

Dumbledore opened the window and let it in.

The owl went straight to Kyle, placed a letter in his hand, then shook itself and vanished into a pile of feathers.

"Don't be surprised," Dumbledore explained at the opportune moment. "It was made of owl feathers by Nicolas... to prevent others from finding his address by owl."

Kyle nodded in understanding.

He then opened the letter.

"I take back what I said before. You might need to come over; a lady seems to want to speak with you..."

The letter was short and unsigned, except for a crown-like design at the end.

"Looks like you've got some new stuff to deal with," Dumbledore said with a chuckle. "Need any help? I'm pretty free lately."

"Thank you, Professor, but it shouldn't be necessary for now." Kyle for a moment before saying, "It's something I Nicolas to help fix, and it seems there's a problem."

"This is really strange, that something Nicolas took over could still go wrong... Oh, I think I understand."

Dumbledore realized, "I was wondering what you were going to do with that Slytherin's Locket, whether you would just destroy it with the Basilisk Fang. I didn't expect you to give it to Nicolas. That is indeed a good idea."

"I remember Nicolas studied Horcrux for a very long time; nobody knows more about them than him."

"Yes, that's what I think too," Kyle said.

Dumbledore guessed correctly, but only half right. Nicolas was looking for him because of the Horcrux, that's true, but not Slytherin's Locket.

As Nicolas mentioned before, he's currently busy dealing with the Philosopher's Stone and the Time-Turner, and doesn't have time to handle other matters, so the Slytherin's Locket shouldn't have been touched yet.

Moreover, it's easy to see from the crown image at the end of the letter that he was referring to Ravenclaw's Diadem.

Of course, Dumbledore didn't know this.

"Professor, when is the Portkey expired?" Kyle asked.

"Anytime," Dumbledore said. "You just need to take it and silently say Nicolas Flamel's name."

"However, I suggest you go tomorrow, as the train leaves school at nine o'clock in the morning."

"Don't forget you're still Champion; your every move is being watched. If you leave school early, it will inevitably arouse the suspicion of the guests."

"Okay, then let's do it tomorrow," Kyle said.

He hadn't originally planned to leave immediately.

Nicolas's letter came too suddenly; there were many things he didn't understand that he needed to think about carefully.

A woman wanted to talk to him, but who was she... Kyle figured it definitely wasn't Nicolas's wife.

And then, considering Ravenclaw's Diadem... Kyle couldn't help but think of a possibility.

Although it sounds absurd, there seems to be no other answer.
