Reversal
Upon seeing the three people stand up, Chris understood everything.
Macnair can be disregarded, but the remaining two...
Karkaroff is the headmaster of Durmstrang, at least for now, and therefore has a great reputation in the Wizarding World.
And then there's Lucius Malfoy, the most popular person in the Ministry of Magic, who must have spent a fortune on him.
If they are witnesses, it's no wonder the Ministry of Magic is taking it so seriously.
Chris thought Karkaroff had already run away after the previous Triwizard Tournament ended, but he didn't expect him to dare to come back.
"Okay, even so, what about the notification?" Chris's eyes flashed, and he said coldly, "We only received notification regarding the <Restraint Act>, so we have the right to refuse to comply with any additional charges..."
As he spoke, he pulled Kyle up, preparing to leave.
"I'm afraid that won't work," a shrill voice rang out.
Another person stood up.
Dolores Umbridge, a sickeningly fake smile plastered on her face.
"Some people believe you might be covering up the most crucial evidence, so they strongly suggest using this method for a surprise inspection."
Her voice was high-pitched and shrill, as if someone had pinched her throat, sounding fake.
Kyle swore he'd rather listen to the Augurey sing all day than hear Umbridge say a word.
But she herself is not aware of this.
"The minister has agreed." Umbridge grinned. "Unless you want to go against the Ministry of Magic, you must undergo questioning today."
"Of course, you can leave now, but as soon as you step out of this door, according to the rules of Wizengamot, you will be found guilty, and the Auror will arrest you immediately."
"Rufus, I think the Auror are already waiting."
Scrimgeour's eyes twitched a few times, as if he was suppressing some emotion, but he held back and managed to squeeze out a single word.
"Yes."
"That's good," Umbridge said with a grin.
Chris's expression relaxed, and his hand twitched slightly. Kyle noticed something fall into his hand.
Judging from its shape, it should be a magic wand.
Kyle quickly took two steps forward and subtly shook his head at Chris.
"Are you sure you want to conduct this interrogation in a way that is completely against regulations?"
"I think I've made myself very clear," Umbridge snapped. "This was permitted by the Minister."
"Alright, in that case, I must remind you of something."
Kyle looked at her and smiled. "Besides being a Hogwarts student, I have another identity... a recipient of the Order of Merlin, Second Class, and every member who receives the Order of Merlin, Second Class, is an honorary member of Wizengamot."
"I think you understand what this means."
Umbridge's fake smile vanished, replaced by an extremely gloomy expression.
"It seems you understand," Kyle continued. "Yes, I have the right to request the Supreme Court of Wizengamot."
As soon as Kyle finished speaking, a murmur of discussion arose in the room, and some people began to get restless.
It doesn't matter if it's just one student, but if that student is a member of the Order of Merlin, then we need to think about it carefully.
The Supreme Court of Wizengamot... If they are found not guilty today, the price will be too high.
"Damn it, how could I forget about that?" an old wizard said regretfully. "I should have gone to Harry Potter's trial."
It's not surprising that he didn't remember; Kyle isn't like the Chosen One next door, who has too many titles.
Let's take the most recent example,
The Triwizard Tournament champion, a curse that destroyed the meticulously crafted maze, the one who exposed the Sirius Black affair, and the one who made amends for a major oversight by the Ministry of Magic...
They seem to hear Kyle's name every year, but the Order of Merlin was something from several years ago, and they couldn't recall it at the moment.
Even Umbridge's expression changed, and she couldn't help but turn to look at Lucius Malfoy.
"Of course, we are well aware of this."
Karkaroff stepped forward, stroked his goatee, and declared with righteous indignation, "But we are even less willing to remain silent about the truth we have witnessed because of considerations of gain or loss. As the principal of Durmstrang, I absolutely cannot allow myself to have such cowardly thoughts."
"So Principal Karkaroff is such a noble wizard," Kyle said. "Then why won't you admit you're a Death Eaters? You didn't act like this when you were kneeling before someone begging for forgiveness."
Karkaroff's hand suddenly stopped, and he forcefully plucked out several of his own beard hairs.
But ignoring the pain, he shouted angrily, "You're talking nonsense! The You-Know-Who hasn't been resurrected! You and Dumbledore are spreading rumors! I suggest the Auror arrest you immediately..."
"Don't get excited, Principal Karkaroff." Kyle waved his hand, interrupting him. "I never said the You-Know-Who had been resurrected. You were the one who said it... Oh, I see. You're just trying to shift the blame to me and hide yourself like this... Tsk tsk, how clever."
"You, you..." Karkaroff's chest heaved violently, and his hand unconsciously moved to his wand.
"Igor." Lucius frowned, reminding Karkaroff, who was about to erupt.
He then ignored Kyle and looked at Umbridge and Amelia Bones.
"Ladies, do not fall for his tricks. We swear in Malfoy's name that we truly witnessed him murder Mr. Theodore Nott."
Seeing Lucius and Karkaroff's serious expressions, Umbridge finally relaxed and put on a fake smile again.
"How about Legilimency?" Kyle suddenly spoke up. "Just talking about it is too frivolous. Let's just use Legilimency and have the Auror examine your memories. Wouldn't that make everything clear?"
"Of course, if you agree, I will also agree to Legilimency. Wouldn't that be much more convenient and save us time?"
Lucius remained silent, Karkaroff also shut his mouth.
Legilimency? To let the Auror see them surrounding Voldemort and launching their attack on Kyle?
Don't be ridiculous. If their memories were actually checked, the Auror would probably arrest all three of them immediately.
They wanted to deal with Kyle and strike at Dumbledore, not turn themselves in.
Fortunately, Amelia Bones came to their rescue.
"Since 1975, the International Confederation of Wizards has banned the use of Legilimency in interrogations, so this method cannot be used."
"That's a real shame." Kyle looked at the three people on the stage and scoffed.
This caused Karkaroff to pluck out a few more hairs from his beard.
"No Legilimency is needed." Umbridge jumped in again. "Rufus, go check his wand."
With a gloomy face, Scrimgeour stood up and walked up to Kyle.
But just as he reached out his hand, he suddenly remembered something and withdrew it.
"The magic wand testing table Accio."
About ten seconds later, a strangely shaped table crashed through the door and flew in.
It's less of a table and more of a square stool, covered in dust, though a groove can still be faintly seen on the tabletop.
"Scourgify."
Scrimgeour cleared his throat and said seriously, "According to regulations, we need to examine your wand. Now, please place your wand on the examination table."
"No problem."
Kyle nodded and placed his wand horizontally in the groove of the table.
Then Scrimgeour took out his wand.
"Prior Incantato!"
Kyle saw the groove on the table seem to light up for a moment, and then a wisp of gray smoke emerged from the joint of the two wands.
"Wand-Lighting Charm."
Then another plume of smoke appeared.
"The Summoning Charm".
"Mending Charm."
"Wand-Lighting Charm."
Shadows of incantations flew out from the tip of the staff, attracting everyone's attention.
Everyone's expressions were different: some were nervous, some indifferent, some expectant, and some sneered...
Then a special spell appeared, and people's attitudes changed.
It looked like a ball of fire, and then the flames extended forward, creating a wide passage.
"I think we don't need to watch any further," Kyle said first. "Everyone knows this is a spell I used in the Triwizard Tournament. Before that, I was always at Hogwarts."
"Or do you think I skipped school on purpose to kill that... Nott?"
"Of course, I don't mind if you feel it's necessary."
"No need." Scrimgeour put away his wand.
"No!" Karkaroff roared. "He did this on purpose, using such a low-level spell to mask the Fiendfyre. We must continue the investigation."
He had to admit he was starting to panic.
Wait a minute, where's the Fiendfyre? It's gone!
"So you mean," Kyle looked at him and said calmly, "That I used a wide-range Fire-Making Spell outside the school, and the Ministry of Magic hasn't found any trace of it yet, is that what you mean?"
Now, even more eyes were on him.
"No need," Scrimgeour said coldly.
He naturally knew that this spell had a wide range and great power; if it were used, it certainly wouldn't leave no trace.
He had already visited Ottery St. Catchpole before, and there were no traces of any spells there.
He also knew that Kyle had been staying at home since the start of the holidays and hadn't gone anywhere. The only time he went out was to the Leaky Cauldron via Floo Network, but he quickly returned.
Therefore, Karkaroff's words were a direct questioning of the Auror ' competence, which naturally displeased Scrimgeour.
"You're talking nonsense, that's not what I meant..." Karkaroff became increasingly agitated, his face turning deathly pale.
Wait a minute, this isn't right!
He clearly saw Kyle cast the spell with his own eyes, so how come it's suddenly gone?
