New Broom, Nimbus 2000?
The following evening, to celebrate Cedric's discharge from the hospital, the Hufflepuff players threw him a small party in the common room after training.
Cedric is alright, which is undoubtedly great news for the team. Captain Harris even managed to get some Butterbeer from Hogsmeade Village, and they all had a great time drinking together.
It was mainly because he wanted to drink it himself.
As the team captain, Harris was under immense pressure. Especially after the first round of matches, he was so worried that he was losing clumps of hair.
The opponent was too strong.
Gryffindor has the highest quality players, with virtually no weaknesses.
Slytherin are well-equipped, but they lack martial ethics.
There are seven people in Ravenclaw...
For Hufflepuff, Cedric, this talented Seeker, is practically their only hope of winning the championship.
Harris picked up his Butterbeer, clinked it against Cedric's, and said, "Don't worry, this will never happen again."
I plan to assign a Beater specifically to protect you. If the Slytherin dare to lay a dirty hand on you again, that thick bat will be the first thing to smash into their faces."
Cedric frowned, not entirely agreeing with his approach.
There are only two Beater. If one of them protects him, the Chaser's offensive advantage will be gone. If the opponent has a big lead, even if he catches the Golden Snitch, it will be useless.
It seems like a losing proposition no matter how you look at it.
Cedric shared his thoughts with Harris.
"You don't need to worry about that," Harris said after thinking for a moment. "This is just a preliminary plan; we can refine it gradually during the training matches."
Cedric tried several more times to persuade Harris to give up the idea, but to little avail.
No matter how valid his reasons were, Harris would always deflect them with, "Let's talk about it after the practice match."
After realizing he couldn't change his mind, Cedric stopped saying anything.
Let's talk about it after the training match.
Kyle also attended the banquet, but since he wasn't part of the team, he didn't need to think too much about it and could just focus on eating.
He was tempted to try the Butterbeer, but before he could even reach out, an older student stopped him.
The reason is that wizards below the fifth grade are not allowed to drink alcohol.
This left Kyle somewhat disappointed, but there was nothing he could do, because not only him, but even Cedric, the star of the party, was drinking Pumpkin Juice.
After the banquet, everyone returned to their dormitories.
Everything went as usual for the next few days.
Kyle went to class, ate meals, and did his homework at the library, just like any other young wizard, as if nothing had happened.
Even Fred and George from Gryffindor have become much more normal, only losing ten points in several days.
This pleased Professor McGonagall greatly, and she no longer treated them as harshly as before.
This situation continued until mid-November, when the second Quidditch Match began.
It was a weekend, and in the morning, a rumor suddenly spread throughout Hogwarts.
"Have you heard? Gryffindor's team has a new broom."
In the Great Hall, a new Slytherin student was telling others about the news he had just heard.
"A new broom?" Slytherin Quidditch Team captain, seventh-year student Severin Rosier, looked somewhat gloomy upon hearing the news.
Slytherin are playing Gryffindor this afternoon, and having a new broom at this time is definitely not a good thing.
But that wasn't all. The man continued, "I also heard that it wasn't an ordinary broom, but Nimbus 2000 that hadn't been released yet."
"Nimbus 2000?!"
Someone exclaimed in surprise, "That's impossible! My uncle works in the Department of Magical Games and Sports, and even he couldn't get his hands on Nimbus 2000. How could those Gryffindor possibly manage it?"
At this point, someone else joined in, saying, "I heard that Bill Weasley got it from Egypt; apparently, he did the Nimbus Company a huge favor."
"Damn Weasley."
Someone slammed their fist on the table in anger. "What about the competition this afternoon? The Nimbus 2000 is definitely much better than the Nimbus 1700 we're using!"
The Slytherin student who had spoken earlier stood up and said, "I'll go write to my uncle right now and see if he can get a Nimbus 2000 too."
Is there enough time?
"It should be possible."
The Slytherin Quidditch Team nearby, upon hearing these words, all wore grim expressions and lost their appetites.
Rosier slammed his hand over the plate in front of him, yelling angrily, "Damn it, why now of all times?"
Slytherin and Gryffindor were old rivals, and he simply couldn't accept losing to those guys in the match.
"Don't panic, the veracity of this news is still uncertain." Someone calmly analyzed, "The Nimbus 2000 isn't a toy; it can't just be given away like that. Besides, this news came too suddenly; it's very likely fabricated to mislead us..."
"Oh~~~"
Suddenly, a series of exclamations erupted from the Great Hall.
"Look, what's that!"
As if deliberately trying to antagonize him, no sooner had he finished speaking than six long-eared owls flew in carrying a long, thin package and landed on the Gryffindor dining table.
Judging from its appearance, it can be basically confirmed that it is Broomstick.
Because it was wrapped quite tightly, they could still clearly see that the tail of the broom was longer than that of the Nimbus 1700, and its shape was different from other models on the market.
The Weasley family twins were carrying packages and talking excitedly to the others.
Although it was impossible to hear what they were saying due to the distance, it was clear that the group was extremely excited.
Especially the Quidditch players, they would look this way from time to time, and their eyes were very strange.
Rosier felt they were mocking him, which he couldn't stand. Just as he was about to flip the plate in anger, he discovered that there was nothing left on the table in front of him.
So he flipped over the plate of a newborn next to him.
"Everyone go and find out," Rosier said through gritted teeth. "No matter what method we use, we have to find out if that thing is really the Nimbus 2000."
"What if that happens?" someone asked.
"Then write home and try to get some over here too!" Rosier roared. "What are you waiting for? Go!"
The Slytherin players scattered, and the other snakes, seeing this, followed suit and left the Great Hall.
Rosier was in a bad mood at the moment, and they didn't want to stay and provoke him.
