"I've done what you asked. Did you bring the goods?"
On the eighth floor of Hogwarts, a hoarse, deep voice came from a secluded empty classroom, like the whisper of a ghost, sending chills down one's spine.
"Don't worry, I wouldn't shortchange you." Kyle pulled a suitcase from his Mokeskin Pouch, placed it on the table, opened it, turned it around, and pushed it forward.
"Two hundred enhanced Exploding Snap balloons. Not one less."
Zonko's Joke Shop had closed down, so Kyle had bought these from Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes. Fred and George had hidden them inside a hollowed-out book to get past Filch's inspection.
Kyle had originally had a better method. For instance, any small box with an Undetectable Extension Charm would have done the job. But the Weasley twins had refused; they thought that would be too boring and not exciting enough.
At the sight of the suitcase, Peeves immediately flew over excitedly and took stock of it.
There really were quite a lot, with thirty extra on top of that. Yet he did not look particularly happy. Instead, he frowned and said, "That isn't right. Where are the hundred Dungbombs we agreed on? Why aren't they here?"
"Don't rush. Dungbombs aren't as easy to bring in as balloons. You'll have to wait a few more days." Kyle explained, "Besides, they've made some improvements to part of this batch."
"Improvements..." Peeves's eyes lit up. "Did they get bigger?"
"No." Kyle shook his head. "They put some real stuff in them."
Peeves's expression instantly became strange. His eyes held undisguised disgust, as well as heartfelt admiration.
Those two utterly opposing emotions blended together perfectly.
Peeves might have been a ghost, but he was not completely ignorant.
