The Vanishing Cabinet could help the Death Eaters bypass the castle's magical defenses. If they had not known beforehand, the Death Eaters could indeed have used this method to seize the initiative and catch them off guard.

But now that they knew, the immovable Vanishing Cabinet had become the Death Eaters' greatest weakness.

Dumbledore was highly confident that he could round up every Death Eater who entered Hogwarts this way.
